Matias Checks Blind

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

EPT Vilamoura winner Antonio Matias just opened under the gun to 625, and his neighbor in early position was the only caller.

Matias checked in the dark, and the flop came {3-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. His opponent bet out 900, and Matias made the call.

Both players checked the {5-Spades} on the turn and {K-Spades} on the river, and Matias showed {A-Spades}{10-Spades}. His opponent tabled {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Matias' hand went into the muck.

Matias is still up lots for the day, he plays around 43,000.

Short and Shorter

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Artem Litvinov’s day has not gone well and is now holding on to a sub ten big blind stack. Things aren’t a whole lot better for [Removed:17] who is toying distractedly with his remaining chips, and from a start of 30,000 Team PokerStars Pros Eugene Katchalov and Johnny Lodden have seen their stacks halve in the first two levels of play.

Vanessa Selbst Eliminated

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst didn't last too long today, as she just lost her last chips. She must have lost a sizable pot earlier on, as she was short stacked already at the beginning of her last hand.

We missed the precise action, but the eventual winner of the hand told us that Selbst had opened to 400, and received two callers. All three of them checked the {5-Spades}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}-flop, and the {K-Diamonds} hit the turn. Selbst bet out 700, according to the player on the button, and one player called. The third involved player raised to 2,600, and Selbst called all in. The other player folded.

Selbst had {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and was behind as the player on the button showed {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Selbst needed a queen, but wouldn't get it. The river came the {2-Diamonds} and Selbst got up from the table and left the tournament area.

After a deep run, but no cash, in the Super High Roller, again no luck for Selbst here. There's still more tournaments to be played this week though, and the €10,300 High Roller later this week might be her best chance of getting even or ahead for the week.

Busquet on a Roll

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Olivier Busquet
Olivier Busquet

Despite winning the €50,000 Super High Roller event last night, Olivier Busquet has jumped straight back into the Main Event and has wasted no time in eliminating Asmat Asghar.

Busquet has made an initial raise with {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Asghar had shoved his short stack all in with {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Asghar provided a running commentary for a friend on the next table.

The board came {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Spades} and an ace on the river put pay to Asghar's tournament's hopes.

The latter left muttering "Joke...bunch of jokers..."

Schemion's Two Pair is Good

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ole Schemion opened to 400 from the hijack, and Ari Engel in the small blind, and the player in the big blind called.

All three of them checked the {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{J-Hearts}-flop, and {A-Hearts}-turn. The river came the {7-Diamonds} and Engel and the big blind checked again. Schemion was done checking, and tossed a single red 1,000 chip in.

Engel quickly released, but the big blind made the call.

Schemion showed {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and the big blind mucked.

Ole Ole Ole – Three Hands With Ole Schemion

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ole Schemion was under-the-gun and opened the betting for 500. Ari Engel was in middle positon and three-bet the German superstar to 1,100. The rest of the table got out of the way and Schemion didn’t waste too much time throwing his cards in.

Schemion was the big blind in the next hand and when the under-the-gun player made it 500 and Engel too made the call he came along for the extra 300. Three players saw the flop come {7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} and when it was checked to Engel he bet 700.

Schemion was the only caller so they went heads up to the turn card {k-Clubs}. Schemion check-called a further bet of 1,200 from Engel and they both checked the river {7-Spades}. “Eights.” Schemion said. “Pocket eights?” Engel replied sounding surprised but mucked when he saw the {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Schemion was in the small blind next hand and a raise and a three-bet before it got to him saw his cards hit the muck.

Hansen Hits

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Thor Hansen
Thor Hansen

We just saw Thor Hansen call a 1,150 bet on {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} from the button. Once Hansen called, his opponent in the cutoff didn't want to invest any more. The {8-Hearts} hit the river and Hansen's opponent check folded to a 3,000 bet. Hansen is still down for the day, but it's just little.
