Martin Jacobson

November Niner Martin Jacobson just picked up a crucial double up, he successfully flipped {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} against Vladimir Komissarov's {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} on a {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs} board.

It's not all good news for the Swede, Ole Schemion has just taken the seat next to him.

"And It's Gone!"

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Arpad Balazs has been eliminated from the tournament. The Hungarian player told us three hands where he went from a very playable stack to out in not too long a time.

In the first of the three hands, he called from the big blind with {Q-}{Q-} after the player under the gun had opened. Both players checked the {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, and Balazs bet the one-third the size of the pot on the {A-Spades}-turn. His opponent called, and another {A-} hit the river. Balazs checked, and his opponent bet out 6,800. The Hungarian check raised to 26,800, and his opponent three bet to 48,000. Balazs called, but his opponent did have the dreaded {A-}{9-} for quads.

The second hand saw Balazs bluff some chips of in a three bet pot, and despite hitting a pair on the river, it wasn't good enough to win the hand.

In his last hand he squeezed all in from the small blind with {A-}{9-} suited after a cutoff open and button call. Unfortunately for Balazs, the big blind found pocket tens and re shoved. Balazs hit a nine, but it wouldn't save his tournament life: {J-}{4-}{5-}{9-}{J-}.

"And It's Gone!" laughed Balazs who can now focus on the Barcelona night life again. Balazs, who claims to have some Dutch blood in his veins because of all his Dutch friends, can also try his luck again in one of the many side events still on the schedule.

Lodden Busts Main Event

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

Enver Khvitia opened for 4,000 and Johnny Lodden three-bet him to 8,000. Li Zhang was sat to Lodden’s left and bumped it up a bit more to 17,300. Khvitia got out of the way but Lodden made the call and left himself 37,000 behind.

The flop was {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Lodden checked and Zhang bet enough to put him all in. Lodden sat there glumly for a short while before putting in the chips. Zhang turned up his {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Lodden need some help showing {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} but it wasn’t yet a lost cause.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and the river the useless {j-Clubs}. Lodden headed for the exit trailed by cameras.

Rien Wijermars Eliminated

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Dutch player Rien Wijermars has been knocked out of the tournament. He was up to 100,000 in chips, but lost all of those to one aggressive player.

The biggest chunk of chips he lost in a button versus big blind situation where Wijermars three bet, and then five bet with {A-}{J-} from the big blind. His opponent had opened the button, and four bet with {Q-}{Q-}. The queens held up, and Wijermars was left with about 30,000.

An orbit or what later, Wijermars three bet shoved from the big blind with {K-}{10-}, and ran into the {Q-}{Q-} of the same player again. Again no suck out for Wijermars, and he can concentrate on other things than the Main Event for the rest of the week.
