Vladimir Troyanovskiy was all in for 162,000 with the {Q-Spades}{4-Spades} against the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} for Martn Jacobson, who was just recently moved up to the main feature stage after the elimination of Mike McDonald.

Down to 32 Players

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The tournament is down to its final four tables, with 32 players in the tournament.

In the meantime, the Estrellas Poker Tour is on the bubble, and tournament director Toby Stone is announcing all of the all ins. This kind of brings Scott Seiver on tilt, and he was jokingly talking about raising €100 each from all High Roller players to just pay one extra spot and be done with the constant announcing.

With a big grin on his face Ole Schemion declined to give €100, as an on tilt Seiver next to him is benefitting him more than the announcing is hurting his ears.

Kim: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Trickett: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} board didn't help Kim and he made his exit from the tournament.

Jean-Noel Thorel Eliminated

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Frenchman Jean-Noel Thorel has just been eliminated from the tournament. The one responsible was Martin Jacobson.

Jacobson opened the hijack, and called Thorel's small blind shove. Thorel had a more than decent hand with {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, but Jacobson wasn't messing around either; {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

The flop ({10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}) and turn ({7-Hearts}) were still harmless for Thorel, but the {K-Spades} on the river did hurt. With Thorel's departure, the tournament is getting closer and closer to the redraw point of 24 players remaining.

European Poker Tour Announces Changes to Season 11 Players of the Year Award

In Season 10, the European Poker Tour saw a heated Player of the Year race between such players as Vanessa Selbst, Stephen Chidwick, Alex Bilokur, and Thomas Muhlocker. However, in the end, it was German wunderkind Ole Schemion that amassed 1,337.74 points to claim the title and a €50,000 buy-in to either a PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker sponsored event.

For Season 11, which just kicked off in Barcelona with the €50,000 Super High Roller, things are a little different. The EPT has announced that there will now be three new Player of the Year leaderboards, each utilizing a Global Poker Index (GPI) – the world’s leading poker ranking authority — formula for poker rankings.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with the EPT,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, President of GPI. “I'm happy that the EPT and Global Poker Index continue to work together to establish industry standards. We share a vision and commitment to promotepoker as a global and unified sport to a mainstream audience.”

The EPTs often hold festival events alongside tours such as Estrellas, UKIPT, Eureka, French Poker Series, and the Italian Poker Series, each encompassing events with a buy-in of just $100 all the way up to €100,000. Given the huge breadth of tournaments that are available to players, there will be three tiers of the Player of the Year contest in Season 11:

  • EPT11 Player of the Year Gold — Includes all open events. It is expected the winner of this award will be the player with the best results in EPT Main Events and High-Roller event.
  • EPT11 Player of the Year Silver — Includes all open events with buy-in of US $4,000 and below. It is expected the winner of this award will be the player most successful at large side events.
  • EPT11 Player of the Year Bronze — Includes all open events with buy-in of US $600 and lower. It is expected the winner of this award will be the player most successful at smaller side events.

Each winner will receive a customized trophy in recognition of their achievement.

“The European Poker Tour caters to an incredible spectrum of players of all skill levels and bankrolls, and we believe the Player of the Year should reflect that,” said Edgar Stuchly, President of the European Poker Tour. “Each stop of the EPT is a huge poker festival and this change allows us to recognize this diversity.”

Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews all season long for updates on the EPT11 Player of the Year race.

From the hijack seat, Ole Schemion raised all in for 65,000. Action folded to Paul Newey in the small blind, and he reraised to 132,000. Doug Polk folded from the big blind, leaving Newey's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} up against Schemion's {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} to keep Newey's eights in the lead and win him the pot. Schemion was eliminated while Newey increased to 515,000 in chips.

Kanit and Pantling Tangle Again

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Mustapha Kanit - Andrew Pantling
Mustapha Kanit - Andrew Pantling

Mustapha Kanit and Andrew Pantling both had huge stacks at one point, and were seated right next to each other to make things interesting. Though Kanit is out of position for all but one hand an orbit, he's having the best of the confrontations with Pantling so far today.

Just now a huge pot was played between the two of them. In a battle of the blinds, Kanit checked on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} board and big blind Panting bet out 280,000.

After some thinking, Kanit made the call. Pantling rolled over {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and Kanit took it down with {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. The big call delivered him a big pot, Kanit is up to 1.6 million now.

Polk Is No Good

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With the board reading {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, Doug Polk bet 16,000. Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst raised to 58,000, and Polk called to see the {A-Clubs} land on the river. After Polk checked, Selbst bet 124,000. Polk called.

Selbst turned up the {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush, and Polk couldn't beat it.

"That is good," said Polk before mucking his hand.
