Ignat Liviu Bubbles EPT London

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Despite the constant tanking, high numbers of players still in and the general media scrum that makes a player feel like they're about to be afforded their own story in the British tabloid press, the bubble has burst at the first attempt.

Before going hand for hand, Ignat Liviu had moved all in over the top of a raise from Marco Caza, the Canadian making a call.

Liviu was all in for around 70,000 and Caza had the Romanian well-covered.

Liviu: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Caza: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The flop was {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} - blank and unconnected enough that Liviu was now the clear favourite for the hand. The {4-Spades} changed nothing and Caza needed one of six outs to knock out the Romanian. The {A-Hearts} then appeared on the river to an audible groan from the watching crowd. Everyone else is now guaranteed a minimum payout of £7,750.

Bubble Play With Higgins

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Bo Daniel Nilsson opened for 9,000 but when he faced a three-bet of 25,000 from Simon Higgins and it got back to him he sighed and folded. Higgins had more chips than him and he simply didn’t want to risk it all with his hand.

Higgins opened the next hand for 8,000 and perhaps PokerStars Team Online player Christian Favale, who had more chips than Higgins, thought he would do the same and raised him to 42,000. Higgins though decided to make the call and they went to a flop of {3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Favale had position but Higgins led out for 32,000 and got called. The turn card was the {4-Hearts} and both players checked. When the river card came the {4-Diamonds} Higgins bet 60,000 for about half his stack and Favale pushed his cards away.

We're On The Bubble!

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jens Jose Obijn just moved all in under the gun for 52,500 chips and from his immediate left it was PokerStars Team Online Marc-Andre Ladouceur who pushed over the top.

"You have a big hand?" Obijn asked.

The other players quickly folded and while all the cameras were pointed at Obijn the showdown went as following.

"Pretty big," Ladouceur responded a bit delayed as he was waiting for the other players to have folded.

Ladouceur: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Obijn: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Obijn shook Ladouceur's hand before exiting the tournament area.

Tankathon

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Just two spots from the money and Mateusz Zbikowski is tanking for several minutes in each and every hand. No-one at his table seems to mind or has complained, Sam Trickett and Jabran Zahid are both very short as well but they're not dwelling for very long in their hands.

On several other tables it's noticeable that one or two other players are doing the same but unless someone complains, the number of hands per hour will be very low - at least until the bubble bursts.

Korik Doubles Through Bensadoun as Bubble Looms

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Zachary Korik open-shipped for 68,000 from the button and [Removed:119] wasted little time calling from the small blind. The big blind folded and the hands were put on their backs.

Korik: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Bensadoun: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, pairing Korik's ace and giving him a new hope to stay alive in the Main Event. The {Q-Spades} fell on the turn, meaning Korik needed only to dodge a five on the river in order to stay alive. The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Korik was pushed the double up chips. He now has about 140,000 to his name while Bensadoun has dropped to 230,000.

Jens Jams, Busts

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jens Lakemeier opened the action and faced a three-bet from Kevin MacPhee. Lakemeier ran over his options for a while in his head. He had the shorter stack and the bubble was fast approaching. The option he went for was the four-bet jam btu MacPhee snapped him off.

Lakemeier tabled {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and found he wasn’t being messed with as MacPhee had {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

The final board of {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds} spelled his doom and Lakemeier was out in 98th place with nothing for his troubles.

Kamal Choraria raised to 8,500 and Ignat Liviu responded with a three-bet to 18,000. Martijn Ardon was next to act and he made the call, after which the action folded to Choraria who moved all in for 62,000.

"All in," Liviu announced and his shove was for a total of 80,500.

"Oh man, can I get a count?" Ardon asked.

The chips were counted out exactly and Ardon said, "I can't believe I'm folding this hand as he finally threw it into the muck."

Choraria: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Liviu: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

"I folded jacks for 20 big blinds, what the f***," Ardon said in disgust, but also happy he found a way to avoid running into aces.

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Liviu knocked out Choraria while Ardon saved himself a big chunk of chips.
