Dion Doubles

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Yann Dion
Yann Dion

Yan Dion got his chips in before the flop against Javier Rodriguez. Dion had just 125,000 left at that point, making his move with {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Rodriguez had {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} but would lose the flip: {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Not much later achtion folded to Ronny Voth in the small blind. Voth limped in and Dion raised it up to 26,000. Voth called. Voth checked on {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Dion bet 17,000. Voth made it 40,000 and Dion called.

Both players checked the {2-Hearts} turn and {6-Hearts} river. Voth showed {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, Dion took it down with {4-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Holz Busts Gulyy

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Fedor Holz won a big pot off Mitch Johnson and the Brit then joked "and he has won every pot since".

Yury Gulyy moved all in from under the gun for 70,000 chips and was called by Holz while everyone else folded. The Russian had the {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and Holz had two live cards in {Q-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. The {6-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} flop immediately improved the WCOOP champion and he stayed ahead with the {5-Diamonds} turn and {K-Clubs} river completing the board.

Nandor Solyom has also chipped up since the last update as well.

Litovchenko Flushed Away

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We're not quite sure when the chips went in as we arrived after the fact, but we do know that Viktor Litovchenko was just eliminated at the hands of Jorma Nuutinen. The former had the {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} laid out in front of him with a board reading {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}. His two pair was no good though as Nuutinen had flopped the joint with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

Jonnie Sonelin Eliminated

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jonnie Sonelin shoved on Javier Rodriguez and the latter made the call. Sonelin was in trouble holding {A-Spades}{J-Spades} as Rodriguez showed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

The flop gave Sonelin some hope with the {J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, but the {8-Hearts} on the turn and {4-Diamonds} on the river failed to improve him.

Aido Almost a Millionaire

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From under the gun, Stefan Grunewald moved all in for 97,000 and Sergio Aido flat-called from a few seats over whereas all other players mucked their cards. Grunewald was at risk with {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} and had the slightly worse kicker compared to the {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} of the Spaniard.

After a board of {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, the German headed to the payout desk and another player smirked to Aido before saying "you are playing well today."

Deuces (Almost) Never Loses

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

With the {9-Spades} {6-Spades} {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} board already being complete, Hossein Ensan bet 30,000 and Pawel Brzeski tossed in a red T-1,000 chip to indicate a call. It was one fifth of the stack for Ensan, yet he was caught bluffing with {2-Clubs} {2-Spades} and Brzeski raked in the pot with the {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}.

Angell Busts to Messina

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Brett Angell
Brett Angell

Former big stack Brett Angell had been reduced to less than 15 big blinds and moved all in for 126,000 from early position. The action reached Valentin Messina on the button and he grabbed his stack of T-25,000 chips and announced all in to isolate successfully.

Angell: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Messina: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

The {5-Spades} {8-Clubs} {j-Spades} flop was still good for Angell, but the {A-Clubs} on the turn changed things dramatically. Only two nines in the deck could help the Brit, however the {4-Hearts} river bricked and sent Angell to the rail.

Two Big Hands from Just Before the Break

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

There were two big hands that unfolded right before the break.

In the first, Dmitry Kataev got his short stack all in preflop holding the {9-Spades}{8-Spades} and was looking to crack the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} of Steve Watts. The {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades} made it possible as Kataev picked up a flush draw, but he was left wanting as the {3-Diamonds} blanked on the turn followed by the {J-Hearts} on the river. Kataev exited in 74th place.

Meanwhile, on the last hand of the level, Bjorn Wiesler, who was in the big blind, got his stack of 112,000 all in preflop and was in dire straits against Martin Jacobson.

Wiesler: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Jacobson: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The {j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop wasn't anything special, and neither was the {4-Hearts} turn. Wiesler needed a ten for the outright double, and much to Jacobson's dismay, he found it when the {10-Spades} spiked on the river. Needless to say, it wasn't how the reigning World Series of Poker Main Event champ hope to go to the break.
