Helppi Eliminated By Engel

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Juha Helppi raised to 5,100 from middle position before Ari Engel made it 16,000 to go from the small blind. With the decision back on Helppi, he threw out another raise to 70,000. Engel then moved all in for a little more and Helppi obliged.

Helppi: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Engel: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds} to see Engel improve to a set on the flop as he took down the hand.

The dealer then confirmed that Engel was all in for 94,400. Helppi’s stack was then counted out and determined to be only 1,000 less and so he was eliminated.

Shak Attack

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Dan Shak opened from the small blind to 6,200 and called Jani Sointula's big blind shove. Shak had by far the best of it holding {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}, Sointula had {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

The board came {6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Shak and Sointula shook hands before the Fin left and Shak started stacking. Shak is now one of the biggest stacks in the room, maybe even the biggest.

Adams Doubles With Aces

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

It isn't Mike Watson's day so far. First he lost a pot to Schemion, just now he doubled Timothy Adams. Adams started with a 50,000 stack today but had already lost some before doubling up through Watson just now. Adams had {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Watson showed pocket tens. All in before the flop and no help for Watson.

“One of the most painful hands I’ve ever watched!”

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Thomas Holm raised to 4,300 from the cut off before Ari Engel raised it up to 10,000 from the button. Holm then went into the tank for several minutes before raising it up to 19,300. Engel thought for a moment before making it 47,000, leaving 2,400 behind. Holm made the call and was about to table his cards.

“It’s not showdown yet,” informed the dealer to Holm, referring to Engel still having chips to spare.

The flop came down {q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Holm checked. Engel then bet 2,200 and was called.

Both checked the {2-Hearts} on the turn before the {4-Spades} completed the board. Again both players checked before Engel turned over his {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Holm mucked as Engel raked in the pot.

“One of the most painful hands I’ve ever watched,” said Craig McCorkel, who was also seated at the table.

Soulier Eliminated By Ivarsson

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Joseph Cheong raised from the cut off before Alexander Ivarsson made it 10,000 from the button. Fabrice Soulier was in the big blind and moved all in for his remaining chips. Cheong folded and Ivarsson called before both players revealed their cards.

Soulier: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Ivarsson: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Soulier was in front with his pair of jacks but that wouldn’t last long as the board ran out {3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to see Ivarsson spike an ace on the turn to win the hand.

Telker Eliminated By Soshnikov

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With the flop showing {5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, Michael Telker checked from under the gun plus one. Ivan Soshnikov made it 10,000 to go and was called.

The {10-Hearts} fell on the turn and both players checked before the {6-Spades} landed on the river. Telker paused for a moment before moving all in for his remaining 36,400 in chips and was snap called.

Telker tabled his {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a set of kings but it was no good as Soshnikov rolled over his {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a turned straight.
