Pietrzak and Sotiropoulos double

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Piotr Pietrzak three-bet shoved for 54,000 chips out of the big blind with {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and was called by Vyacheslav Stoyanov with {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}. The {J-Spades} {5-Clubs} {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} board didn't deliver any surprise.

Only a mere minute later, 2013 runner-up Georgios Sotiropoulos also doubled up to 145,000 with {Q-} {J-} against Anton Bertilsson's {A-Hearts} {4-Spades} on a board of {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs}.

Berent Doubles Two Opponents in Quick Succession

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Two players have doubled through Norbert Berent in the space of a few hands to the Polish player drop down to 126,000 in chips.

In the first hand, he and Kai Herold exchanged raises pre flop before both were all in.

Herold would show {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and be in front of Berent’s {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The flop ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} to see Herold double to 210,000 in chips.

A few hands later and another raising war pre flop ended with Remi Castaignon committing his last 164,000 pre flop and having Berent call.

Berent would again find himself behind holding {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} against Castaignon’s {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and would fail once again at eliminating a player from the tournament after the board ran out {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Roumeliotis Doubles

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Feared high stakes player Alexander Roumeliotis has just doubled through his neighbor Vyacheslav Stoyanov. The two of them got it in before the flop with {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for Stoyanov and {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} for Roumeliotis.

The {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} gave Stoyanov a couple more outs, but the {K-Diamonds} on the return reduced that number again. The {J-Spades} on the river hit Stoyanov with trips but it wasn't good enough as Roumeliotis made his full house.

Two Seat Open; Two Almost Millionaires

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Panagiotis Papaisidorou sent Cezar Oprea to the rail after his opponent got the rest of his 85,000 chips in on a flop of {A-} {3-} {2-} with {A-} {J-}. Papaisidorou was way ahead with {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} and the {7-} turn and {3-} river both bricked.

Abumuslym Gabaiev got his last 82,000 in with {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} on a flop of {2-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} and Glib Kovtunov called with {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}. Gabaiev banged on the table when the {2-Hearts} appeared on the turn and the {2-Clubs} river was a slight overkill to say the least.

Stephen Graner and Panagiotis Papaisidorou are both challenging to become the first chips millionaire in the tournament, a few steals may get them there.

Another Lady Exits

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Irina Efimova
Irina Efimova

Theodoros Aidonopoulos opened to 10,000 from early position and Irina Efimova from Russia shoved all in from the cutoff for her last 13,000. Glib Kovtunov on the button asked if it was a legitimate raise and if Aidonopoulos would have the option again, and called after he was informed it wasn't. Aidonopoulos made the call as well.

The side pot stayed empty as both Aidonopoulos and Kovtunov checked on {6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Aidonopoulos bet out 13,000 on the {4-Diamonds} turn and Kovtunov made the call. The {9-Spades} fell on the river and Aidonopoulos check folded to Kovtunov's 30,000 bet.

Efimova showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} but that hand was no match to Kovtunov's {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

Yosifov Gets It In Good

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Dimitar Yosifov moved all in and with Ilkin Amirov already having chips in he sized it up and made the call.

Yosifov with {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} dominated the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} of Amirov.

The final board of {5-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} finished the tournament for Amirov who merely shruggedat the result and headed to the pay-out desk.

Botond Busts Banicevic

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The Eureka Prague Main Event champion is becoming a real force here in the Hilton Hotel. Balazs Botond raised to 10,500 and then called the all in of Vlado Banicevic for 50,000 with {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. Banicevic only had {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} and couldn't improve on a board of {6-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {7-Spades} {9-Spades} {4-Spades}.

Early Present For Altman

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Franco Cantarella was tangling with Brian Altman in a pot and shoved the turn of a board reading {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Altman made the call with {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and was shown the {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} of Cantarella who was drawing dead. The river was the {6-Spades} and when Cantarella had left the table another player addressed Altman, “Nice present for you. Early Christmas.”

Nguyen Eliminated by Bertilsson

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Minh Nguyen Quang was all in for his last 40,000 chips with {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and was called by Anton Bertilsson from one seat over. The Czech had a nice sweat with the {6-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} flop and even picked up a gutshot on the {Q-Clubs} turn, but the {8-Spades} river sent him to the rail.
