Grosvenor Poker expects the tenth edition of the Goliath tournament to be the biggest on record with an estimated prize pool weighing in at £1 million! This August sees the Goliath return to a live setting after two years of online action, and Grosvenor Poker is pulling out all the stops to make it epic.

There are eight starting flights in total between August 27 and September 2, two of which have a turbo blind structure. Each flight costs £150 to enter (£120+£30) and play lasts for 16 levels. The first eight levels last 30-minutes with the second eight spanning 40-minutes; the turbo flights have 20-minute blinds throughout.

Players who make it through any of the flights return to the action at the Grosvenor Casino at the Coventry Building Society Arena on August 3. Here, the plan is to play another 16x 40-minute levels or until only four tables remain.

Day 3 commences at 11:00 a.m. on August 4 and continues until one player remains, the slayer of the Goliath.

Guillaume Soumier had lifetime live poker tournament winnings of £4,455 until he decided to venture to Luton and compete in the £250 buy-in 2022 GUKPT Luton Mini Main Event. Soumier's decision turned out to be a great one because he came out on top of a 533-strong field to bank £30,400 of the £117,260 prize pool.

Soumier's largest score, prior to this impressive victory, tipped the scales at £2,700, his reward for winning a £57 buy-in tournament in Manchester back in August 2018. He was guaranteed a new career-high when there were seven players remaining in the 2022 GUKPT Luton Mini Main Event but ended up closing out the tournament for his first five-figure haul.
