Grove's Ladies

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Chris Grove
Chris Grove

Current chip leader Chris Grove raised it up preflop and only the small blind called.

The flop fell {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} and both players checked. The small blind led for 1,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn, but could not shake Grove.

The river came the {7-Hearts}, pairing the board and putting three hearts out there. The small blind checked before Grove bet 3,000.

The small blind called and mucked when Grove turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

My Stacked!

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jeremy Abrams
Jeremy Abrams

Jeremy Abrams couldn't get the PokerNews MyStack App, which allows players in this event and others to update their own chip stacks directly on the Live Update blog, to work on his phone earlier today.

By the time he did, he had run out of chips.

The Arlington, Virginia resident has since fired a second bullet and things are going much better.

He picked up two full houses in a row, including taking a huge pot in a boat-over-boat hand and now sits among the leaders with the MyStack App working just fine.

Hail to the Redskins

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

The wife of Washington Redskin's Head Coach Jay Gruden was in the field today.

In fact, according to the tournament staff, Mrs. Gruden had played a number of events on the prelim schedule prior to this one.

Today she got short and got it in with the old {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, busting rather unceremoniously when her opponent turned an overpair.

Gruden took a few minutes looking over the field as she considered re-entry, but has since left the tournament area.

Coffin Turns It

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Vince Coffin called a 2,100-chip bet heads-up on an {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board with some 4,000 in the middle already.

The river came the board pairing {7-Diamonds} and when his opponent led for that same 2,100, Coffin raised to 5,000.

His opponent called and Coffin turned over the {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} having turned a straight. Coffin's opponent mucked.

Moneymaker Busts Bullet One

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

2003 WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker is out for now.

Facing a 525-chip button raise from Cindy Albert, Moneymaker made it 1,300 from the big blind. Albert pushed in and Moneymaker called the rest of a relatively short stack off with {K-}{k-}.

Albert had {A-}{9-} and spiked an ace on the flop to send Moneymaker back to the cage to fire a second bullet.

Vince Coffin
Vince Coffin

Onley, Virginia's Vince Coffin has crested the 50,000-chip mark here in Charles Town.

He turned top pair of aces against one aggressor, then made the big call when that opponent shoved it in on the river with a missed draw.
