Miller Ticking Up

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Nicole Miller just won a small pot off David Novosel, when she called Novosel's raise from the small blind.

Novosel opened the action preflop with a raise to 2,200 and Miller called.

"I think I'm finally going to beat you this time," she said as the two players were heads up to the flop.

The flop came {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} and Miller quickly checked. Novosel bet 2,100 and Miller called. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {j-Spades} and both players checked again. Miller won the pot when she showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Novosel mucked.

Miller, Time

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Nicole Miller hasn't gotten too much rolling today, but on this hand she shoved over an all in player and managed to knock him out of the tournament.

The player opened under the gun for his last 17,825. Miller was next to act and reshoved for 25,800. The action fell to the player on the button. After getting a count, he took some time. He took enough time that Miller called the clock and shortly after that, the button player folded as did the players in the blinds and Miller was heads up and all in.

Her opponent had {a-Spades}{j-Spades} against her {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The board probably brought with it a bit of nerves when it came {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}, giving her opponent a flush draw before finally closing the door and giving her the double up.

Phillips The Burn

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Steve Phillips
Steve Phillips

Steve Phillips just eliminated another player and has tripled his starting stack in just over an hour. He sat down after the dinner break and quickly busted two people.

On this hand, Phillips was on the button and in the tank. A player had opened to 2,100 and Phillips made it 4,000. Eli Stepanovich
called and the original raiser shoved all in. That is what sent Phillips into the tank.

Eventually Phillips called and Stepanovich folded. Phillips had {a-Spades}{k-Spades} against the {q-}{q-} of his opponent. The board wasted almost no time deciding the winner, when Phillips hit a king with two spades and then turned a flush on the {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs} board.

Phillips won the pot and is off to a fiery start about halfway through level ten.

Barfield Gets a Little From Newman

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Andrew Barfield and Morgan Newman were heads up to the river on a board reading {9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Barfield ended up winning the hand after both players checked the river.

The action started when a player opened in middle position and Newman and Barfield both called in position. Barfield was on the button.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and it was checks around. The turn paired the board with the {q-Hearts} and the preflop raiser checked again. Newman made it 4,500 to go and only Barfield called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and Newman took a moment, but settled on a check. Barfield quickly checked behind and Newman was hesitant to show his hand, certain he hadn't won. He turned over {3-}{4-} and was behind the {6-}{8-} of Barfield, who had flopped a pair.

Phillips The Cleaner

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Steve Phillips just joined the tournament at the dinner break after winning his seat via satellite, He wasn't sure whether he wanted to start the tournament now, or come back tomorrow and start at level one of Day 1b.

Eventually he elected to start play tonight and he just eliminated two players. Unfortunately for Phillips, he wasn't able to double up, but he did add 10,000 chips to his stack and it's sent him in the right direction.

Blake Barnes opened the action by putting his last 3,125 all in and was immediately followed by another player shoving all in for 7,250. Phillips was in the big blind and, after getting a count, he called with pocket fives, {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

His opponents had {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Barnes was holding the {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs} and it kept getting better for Phillips who rivered a straight to eliminate both players.
