Smith Crushing

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Kenny Smith was already the chip leader, or close to it, when he won the biggest pot of the tournament so far. He has since added even more to his stack and is definitely attempting to run the table.

On this hand, Scott Schwalich opened to 4,500 and Smith called in position. The two were heads up to the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Schwalich led for 6,300. Smith raised to 17,300 and Schwalich folded shortly after.

Narayanan Would Prefer to Keep His Blinds

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On back to back hands, Thila Narayanan three bet with a stack of 5,000 chips totally roughly 65,000.

On the first hand, Chris Roberts raised to 5,400 in middle position and when the action fell to Narayanan in the big blind. He simply set out the stack of blue chips and Roberts folded shortly after.

On the next hand, Alan Wentz raised from the button into Narayanan's small blind. Narayanan set the same stack of blue chips out again, raising Wentz. Again, the initial raiser folded.

"Don't steal Thila's blinds, is that what we're supposed to get out of that?" said Roberts.

Narayanan suggested he didn't have a hand he could see a flop with, and that if either of them called, he would likely be behind.

Last Break For Day 1b

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Players are on a 15-minute break. Just before the break Kenny Smith won the biggest pot of the tournament for over 400,000 and took the chip lead by a mile. There are 26 players left and two levels to play before bagging for Day 2.

Smith Breaks 400,000 In Tournaments Biggest Pot

Kenny Smith

Kenny Smith just won a massive pot that was over 400,000. He played the biggest pot of the tournament so far and won with pocket kings.

The action started preflop when another player opened to 3,500 and two players called before the action fell to Smith. Smith reraised to 26,000 and the player to his left cold-called. The remaining players folded, leaving the two heads up.

Smith led the {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop for 45,000 and his opponent flat called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Smith checked. His opponent bet 60,000 and sent Smith to the tank. He eventually went all in and his opponent called. Smith had {k-}{k-} against the {q-}{q-} of his opponent.

The river was a blank and Smith won the pot and cemented the far-and-away chip lead. With two levels left, he might be able to cruise into Day 2 barring any major setbacks and will likely be the chipleader entering Day 2.

Roberts Doubles Through Kilgour

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Chris Roberts
Chris Roberts

Chris Roberts just doubled through Bob Kilgour and is doing his best to make a run at the HPO Columbus leaderboard.

Roberts was all in with {a-}{k-} and caught an ace on the river to survive. The winner of the leaderboard gets a seat to the $2,500 championship event in June at the M Resort and Spa. However, if he wins the tournament it won't matter, because he would win that seat and the leaderboard seat would go to the current leader.

Kilgour's Top Pair Is Good

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Nick Guagenti and Bob Kilgour were two of the four players to see the flop come {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. The action checked to Guagenti who bet 7,500 and Kilgour was the lone caller.

The two players were heads up to the turn. They both checked the turn and river when they came, {4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Kilgour tabled {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a pair of eights. That was good enough to win the pot.
