Nick Guagenti Gets Full Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Nick Guagenti was heads up and facing a river bet on a {3-}{3-}{3-}{10-}{x-} board. Guagenti only had about 2,000 more than the bet and went all in.

His opponent seemed to have no choice and called with {a-}{10-}, which was good enough for a full house, but Guagenti had {6-}{3-} for quad threes and won the pot.

Harvey's Full House Sends Plew Home

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Jimmy Plew open shoved a jack high flop and David Harvey called. They both had a jack, but Harvey had the better one with {a-}{j-} against the {j-}{7-} of Plew.

The turn was another jack, {j-} and the river was an {a-}, giving Havery a full house.

Ebanks is Cruising, Phillips is Out, Wentz Still Going

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

Joe Ebanks is setting a great pace with 132,000 chips and shows no signs of slowing down.

Steve Phillips, who won two different satellites to play both his bullets in this tournament has been eliminated.

Alan Wentz is still hanging in there, despite saying yesterday that he was the worst player in the room. He's got a little over 30,000 and is in good position to make a run late in Day 1b.

Clark and Roberts Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante
  • Chris Roberts doubled up within the first few hands of returning from dinner break. He's been running pretty good lately and just had his first granddaughter, so he's looking to continue his run good and score a big cash here.
  • Rick Clark also doubled up. A player opened to 1,800 and another player called. Then, defending HPO Columbus Champion Daniel Swartz reraised 4,000. Clark shoved all in for 12,775 and Swartz eventually called. Clark had {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}, which held up against the {a-}{8-} of Swartz.

Phillips The Chopper

Level 8 : 300/600, 50 ante

Steve Phillips stack has been shrinking all day and in the big blind he only had 1,900 behind.

To start off the action Jesse Fulmer raised to 1,700 and the player to his left made it 4,400. The action folded to Phillips.

"All in," he said throwing in his remaining chips, "no look."

"I'm going to slow roll you guys," he added with a smile.

Fulmer shoved all in for 20,200 and his opponent tanked for a few moments before folding, leaving Phillips and Fulmer heads up.

Fulmer had {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and Phillips had {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

"Put a five out there," Phillips requested.

The flop came [5h8h8s} and Phillips clapped his hands when he saw the {5-Spades} hit the turn.

"Look at that," he said, expecting to win the pot.

"Eights full of fives, chop it up," said Fulmer when he saw the {8-Diamonds} hit the river, putting a full house on the board that was better than the full house Phillips held.
