Simon Doubles Through Walthaus

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

It has been a very volatile last few minutes for Jorn Walthaus. He was down to 70,000 chips, tripled that up and now lost a big portion of the stack once again. After his open raise to 25,000, John Simon moved all in for 92,000 out of the small blind. Walthaus, who started the action on the button, asked for a count and then tossed in the extra chips.

Walthaus: {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Simon: {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The {10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades} flop gave Walthaus the lead, but both the {A-Clubs} turn and the {A-Hearts} river ensured that the better kicker preflop played.

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Walthaus Jams at the Wrong Time

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Jorn Walthaus raised to 20,000 and then four-bet shoved with the superior stack after Michael Wang three-bet to 50,000. Walthaus only had {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Wang had that dominated with the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The {K-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds} board delivered a gutshot for the Dutchman on the flop, but he could not improve anymore.

David Weinstein Eliminated

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

David Weinstein three-bet shoved for 161,000 with {3-}{3-} after Brian Hastings opened the action with a raise to 20,000 and Ron Carrocio called one seat over. Hastings made the call and went into the showdown with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop was great for Hastings and he scored the bustout once the board completed with the {10-Clubs} turn and the {4-Hearts} river.

Shortly after, Ron Carrocio got value out of {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs} and flopped two pair against Andy Spears to climb up in the leader board.

Hunichen Busts, Lichtenberger Doubles

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Hunichen
Chris Hunichen

Chris Hunichen moved all in for what looked like 100,000 and Robbie Bakker had an easy call with the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Hunichen needed a lot of help with {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and could not get there on the {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades}{3-Spades} board.

Only a few moments later, Bradley Yazici raised to 21,000 and Bakker called. One seat over, Andrew Lichtenberger moved all in for 94,000 and Yazici folded. Bakker reluctantly tossed in the extra chips and gave it a valid effort with the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} versus {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

Lichtenberger had some sweat after the {9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades} turn, but the {7-Spades} river blanked for Bakker.

James Lushin on the Wrong Side of Variance

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

James Lushin's dreams of glory were dashed in the matter of two hands. He would first take a dominating {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} up against a shorter stack's {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and lose a big chunk of his stack when the board would run out {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Moments later he would put the last of his chips in against Elliott Zaydman and was racing with {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} against Zaydman's {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} giving Zaydman a set but also giving Lushin an open-ended straight draw. It wasn't to be, however, as the turn was the {A-Hearts} and the river was the {7-Spades} to send Lushin off to collect his winnings. Zaydman in the meantime continued to build his big stack, now sitting at 1.3 million in chips.

Lichtenberger Gets Coolered and Crippled

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Bradley Yazici
Bradley Yazici

The action started with Bradley Yazici opening to 21,000. A couple spots to his left, Andrew Lichtenberger, raised it to 51,000. It was folded back to Yazici who four-bet it to 125,000. Lichtenberger, who had maneuvered his stack up over the half-million chip mark, thought for a few moments and announced he was all in. Yazici beat him into the pot and with good reason as he had {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Lichtenberger was the victim of an unfortunate cooler with his {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

The board would run out {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Yazici, who won the HPO Regional Championship tournament in Grantville, PA, doubled up to 850,000 in chips while Lichtenberger dropped all the way down to 100,000.

Dan Harkenrider Eliminated

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Dan Harkenrider
Dan Harkenrider

Down to less than eight big blinds, Dan Harkenrider moved all in with {10-}{8-} and got called by {Q-}{9-}. The board blanked out and even delivered a {Q-} on the river to see the radio host head to the payout desk.
