Going, Going, Gomes

Alexandre Gomes
Alexandre Gomes
A player moved all in before the flop for 4,125 and was called down by Alexandre Gomes, creating a pot of about 9,000 chips. With the two men heads up, the cards were shown down:

Gomes: {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

The flop rolled out {2-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. The {Q-Spades} on the turn gave both men two pair, but Gomes' ace kicker was still in the lead. The river, however, came the {K-Diamonds}, and Gomes lost his edge on the last card. The pot was pushed to his opponent, who survived his all in, and Gomes is back down around 21,000.

Carter Gill Good With the Ladies

Carter Gill
Carter Gill
A player under the gun limped in to start the betting, and the table folded around to Carter Gill. He put out a raise to 700, and the player two seats behind him moved all in for a total of 5,650. The limper folded, but Gill quickly made the call, tabling {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. His opponent turned over {A-Spades} {K-Spades} and the race was on.

The board came out {3-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, and Gill's two queens held up, as he eliminates a player from the field.

Every One Hundred Nineteen Times...

Chad Brown
Chad Brown
We pick up the action on the turn, with Chad Brown involved in a big pot. The board shows {J-Spades} {8-Spades} {7-Spades} and there is about 7,000 in the middle of the table already.

Fourth street brings the {K-Clubs}. Brown is first to act in early position, and he checks. His lone opponent moves all in, and Brown quickly calls, having his man covered. Brown turns over {3-Spades} {6-Spades}, having flopped a flush, and the {5-Diamonds} on the river is no help to his opponent.

Brown claims a victim, and has now moved up the board to about 19,000 in chips.

Long Name, Big Pot

First to act under the gun, online qualifier Max Serebrinskiy came in raising to 550. A player in middle position reraised up to 1,450, and action passed around to Jason Mercier in the big blind. He made the call, and now the decision was back to Max.

As he was about to act, one of his friends came over to the table and Max asked, "Did you bust?... I'm about to." Just after saying that, he moved all in for a total of 5,600. The original reraiser folded, but Mercier quickly called. With the betting action complete, and a pot of more than 12,000 chips up for grabs, the hands were turned over:

Mercier: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Max: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

The player who folded said that he had mucked {A-Spades} {K-Spades}, stealing some outs from the other ace-king. It was irrelevant though, as the board ran out {6-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Hearts}, making Max the winning two pair. He pulled in the pot, and knocked Mercier down a peg, back to 11,000.

Chino Gets Rheem-ed

David "Chino" Rheem - Eliminated
David "Chino" Rheem - Eliminated
David "Chino" Rheem recently found himself on the short stack after being particularly active in the first few rounds. With about 1,600 chips left, he asked Daniel Palsson, "If I go all in blind, will you call me blind?" Palsson agreed, and the two men did as they had planned.

The cards were turned over, and Chino was in good shape with his {6-?} {9-?} against Palsson's {6-?} {4-?}. The board frowned on Rheem though. A {4-?} on the turn paired Palsson, and he eliminated the Main Event finalist from the field.

After dragging in that small pot, Palsson finds himself sitting on 16,000 chips.

Altmeyer Tangling For a Big Pot

Andy Altmeyer All In for 225
Andy Altmeyer All In for 225
This action occurred on the last hand of the previous blind level.

A player in early position came in with a raise to 900, and action passed to Andy Altmeyer. He tossed in a reraise, making it 2,500 to go. Everyone folded, and the decision was back on the raiser. He thought for a few minutes before sliding the rest of his chips forward; it was another 4,975 to Altmeyer. He looked disappointed, but made the call, turning over {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}. His opponent tabled {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}, and they were flipping coins for a big pot.

The board ran out {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}, and the pocket nines held up. After losing that pot, Altmeyer was left with just 250 chips, and he was eliminated on the very next hand.
