Break

The tournament clock has been paused while our finalists go on a quick 15-minute break.

Here's how they stand at the break:

Sol Bergren - 1,380,000
Amer Sulaiman - 3,800,000

Action! Kind of...

There's some sneakiness happening here in Costa Rica.

Our two heros just checked a {K-?}{3-?}{K-?}{5-?}{7-?} board all the way down to the river, where Sulaiman bet the minimum. Bergren called and Sulaiman turned over the second nuts -- {K-?}{5-?} -- for a full house.

Not much has changed as far as the chips are concerned. Sulaiman still owns a commanding lead over his Canadian counterpart.

Sulaiman Establishes Chip Supremacy

Amer Sulaiman has just opened up the biggest lead of the tournament thus far.

Sol Bergren opened the pot with a raise to 150,000 from the button and Sulaiman called. The flop came down {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Sulaiman check-raised Bergren's 170,000 continuation bet, moving all in over the top. Bergren could only smile.

He took a quick sip from the water bottle sitting to the right of his chips before tossing his cards back to the dealer, conceding the hand.

Counts after the hand were as follows:

Bergren - 1,625,000
Sulaiman - 3,550,000

Add Another Small One for Amer

Sol Bergren raised to 150,000 from the button and Amer Sulaiman called. The flop came {J-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs}. Both players checked and the turn came the {A-Spades}. Both players checked again.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Sulaiman fired 150,000. Bergren folded.

We know it's not much, but this is the type of action we've been seeing. If we happen to get a flop between the two players, it's often checked all the way to the river and then someone fires and wins. Where are Joe Cada and Darvin Moon when you need them?

Sulaiman Gets Some Value

Sol Bergren raised to 150,000 from the button and Amer Sulaiman called. The flop came down {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and both players checked. Action was checked all the way to the river as the {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn and the {9-Spades} fell on the river.

After the river, Sulaiman fired 200,000 and was called by Bergren. He showed {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} and Bergren mucked. Sulaiman now has 3.08 million and Bergren has 2.1 million.

See-saw Battle

Early action has been nothing more than our heads-up opponents feeling each other out, playing small pots without reaching too deep into their stacks.

In a recent limped pot, the flop {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, Sol Bergren led out with a 60,000 bet and Amer Sulaiman called.

Bergren checked when the {4-Hearts} fell on the turn, allowing Sulaiman to fire a 130,000 bet. Bergren made the call.

Both players checked when the {4-Clubs} fell on the river and at the showdown, Bergren tabled {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for a straight, but was bested by Sulaiman's {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, good for a flush.

After the hand, Bergren and Sulaiman were seperated by just 100,000 in chips.

Sulaiman Slows Down with Two Pair

Sol Bergren limped from the button and Amer Sulaiman checked in the big blind. The two players took a flop of {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Sulaiman checked. Bergren bet 60,000 and was check-raised to 200,000. He made the call and the turn brought the {A-Spades}. Both players checked and then the {2-Hearts} landed on the felt for the river. Both players checked again.

Sulaiman tabled {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} and Bergren mucked his hand.

Bergren is down to 2.35 million while Sulaiman is up to 2.83 million
