A few weeks ago, we spotted Dan Williams in Auckland, New Zealand, playing in the PokerStars.net APPT Auckland Main Event. Williams failed to cash in that event, but he gave it a solid effort, reaching day two of the event.
Fast forward one month later and we find Williams sharing a table in Costa Rica with the likes of Derek Lerner, Andre Akkari and Shirley Rosario.
Williams told us he qualified for the Playa Conchal Main Event via an $11 rebuy tournament on PokerStars. We'll keep you posted on his progress.

With approximately 15,000 chips sitting in the middle on a final board of , Alexandre Gomes was faced with a bet of 10,000 from his opponent. After Some deliberation, Gomes moved all in for just under 21,000. His opponent had roughly 12,000 behind and mucked his hand. Gomes is now up to 46,000 chips.
Canadian pro Sol Bergren has been spotted amongst the field and is currently sitting with right around 35,000 in chips.
Bergren first burst onto the scene with a cash in the 2005 WSOP Main Event. He's since followed up that finish with two more Main Event cashes (2006 & 2009), and a 4th place finish at the 2007 PokerStars.net APPT Sydney Grand Final where he took home a little more than $200,000 USD.
The tournament clock currently shows 259 total entrants for the Main Event, though staff members were unable to confirm that number as the official count.

An older gentleman limped under the gun before action folded a few seats over to JC Alvarado. He raised to 850. Everyone folded back to the limped and he stuck in a reraise to 5,325. The ol' limp-reraise play got Alvarado talking in Spanish to his opponent. Eventually, JC mucked his hand, showing that he was folding . His opponent told Alavrado to pick one. Alavrado turned over the from his opponent. Then, the player turned the other one over and revealed the . Alavrado had folded the best hand, but both players got a good laugh out of it.
Alexandre Gomes raised to 600 and action folded to the player in the small blind. He reraised to 1,650. Gomes made the call.
The flop came down . The small blind fired 1,800 and Gomes called. The turn was the , completing a possible flush draw. The small blind took a moment to double check his hole cards and then checked. Gomes checked behind
The river was the , adding some more black to the board. The small blind fired out 2,350. Gomes reached into his stack and then raised to 5,350. His opponent quickly folded, moving Gomes up to 28,000.
