Baptista Cracked By Broadway

On a flop of {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, we found Claudio Baptista calling Vilson Polmann's all in.

Baptista: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Polmann: {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

With Polmann needing a heart, ten or running cards to best Baptista's top pair, the {6-Diamonds} on the turn changed little, but it would be the {10-Clubs} on the river to see him double through to 160,000 as Baptista slipped to 68,000 in chips.

And So It Begins...

The players have really begun tightening up their play now that we're less than one table away from the bubble. Out of the 55 players left, 48 of them will make the money. Short stacks aren't moving in as fast and when they do, it's not without an elaborate Hollywood act followed by excessive celebration if they survive. There's just under 10 minutes until the one-hour dinner break so we doubt we'll break the bubble before then.

Sanchez Surrenders

Marcos Sanchez
Marcos Sanchez

Another player has bitten the dust on the feature table; this time Marcos Sanchez being the unfortunate one.

Making his way to the feature table just over ninety minutes ago with over 150,000 in chips, things obviously didn't fare to well, and he now sits on the rail as we tick into the final sixty players remaining.

Gui Claims to Fold Big Slick

Action folded to Richard Gui in the hijack seat. With a little under 50,000 in chips, Gui raised to 8,500. The small blind and he moved all in for 51,800. He had Gui covered by a tiny bit. Gui went into the tank and flipped over the {A-Clubs} to get a better read on his opponent. The floor was called and it was ruled that Gui was not allowed to show a card, even though his opponent was all in and no one else was in the hand. Gui only got a warning though. He let his hand go after a few minutes in the tank, claiming to fold {A-}{K-}. His opponent showed the {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

"I can't afford to race right now," said Gui, "But I know you're not that strong."

Another One for Montero

A player in middle position raised to 11,000 before Guillermo Montero called from the cutoff seat. The big blind also made the call and the flop was put down {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

The big blind and original raiser checked to Montero. He fired a bet of 7,000. After the big blind folded, the original raiser made the call.

The turn card brought the {10-Diamonds} and paired the top card on board. Action was checked to Montero. He fired 23,000 this time. His opponent tanked for a minute or two, but eventually folded the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Montero picked up the pot. He's now back up to 190,000.

Habernig Joins Scaff

The Feature Table (Matthias Habernig seated far right)
The Feature Table (Matthias Habernig seated far right)

We have just been informed that Matthias Habernig has just scooped a substantially sized pot to join the 300,000-chip club with Andre Luiz Scaff.

Unfortunately for Scaff, he has been pipped by Habernig by a few big blinds as the young Austrian sits with 315,000 and change.
