Scaff Over 300k!

300 bizzles!
300 bizzles!

Facing a raise to 12,000 from the player under the gun, Andre Luiz Scaff made the call next to speak to take the hand heads up to the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop.

The original raiser checked, and Scaff fired out 20,000 to force a prompt fold from his opponent.

Scaff flashed his {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} to collect the pot and become the first player to pass the 300,000-chip mark; currently seated with 302,800!

Queens for Austin

With the action folding round to the small blind, he moved all in and Brady Austin instantly called from the big blind.

Austin: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{6-Spades} to see Austin eliminate his opponent and sit just shy of 60,000 in chips.

Angel Loses His Wings

Angel Guillen
Angel Guillen

It looks as though the run of Angel Guillen is over. Action folded to him on the button and he moved all in for 39,600. Homero Ribeiro called the shove after tanking in the big blind. He called with the {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and was dominating the Team PokerStars Mexico pro's {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Guillen pulled ahead on the flop of {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}, picking up two pair. The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and Guillen was still in front with only one more card to come. The river card completed the board with the {7-Spades} and Guillen immediately knew that wasn't the card he wanted to see. Riberio rivered a better two pair with aces and sevens to eliminate Guillen from the tournament.

Leo Fernandez and Jorge Arias are the only two remaining members of Team PokerStars now.

Scaff Rivered

Facing a limp from the under the gun player, Andre Luiz Scaff limped also as both blinds came along to see a {4-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{A-Spades} flop fall.

The blinds checked and the limper fired out 7,000 with only Scaff calling as the {3-Spades} landed on the turn.

Both players checked that, and then the {5-Diamonds} on the river as Scaff tabled his {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

However it would be his opponent's {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} that would improve to two-pair on the river to see Scaff clipped down to 249,800 in chips.

Holding It Down Team PokerStars

When the tournament began, there were plenty of Team PokerStars pros in the mix. As we move deeper into Day 2, only three of them remain. Angel Guillen of Team Pro Mexico, Leo Fernandez of Team Pro Argentina and Jorge Arias of Team Online are the three left. Arias is up on the feature table with 70,000 in chips while Guillen has 45,000 and Fernandez 56,000 on two separate outer tables. With all their other teammates on the rail already, it's up these three to represent the team from here on out.

Could all three cash? Could they all make the final table? Will one of them win it? You'll have to stay glued to PokerNews to find out!

Rink with the Golden Goal

That's right, 200,000 for Paulo
That's right, 200,000 for Paulo

Usually when we do a feature post on a player in the field and grab them for a video interview on a break they bust shortly thereafter. We just did a feature post on Paulo Rink (which you can read here) and also grabbed him for a video interview on the last break a short while ago. Within minutes of returning back to play, Rink was all in and it looked as if the PokerNews curse was about to strike.

Ademir Strechar raised to 12,000 from the hijack seat before action fell on Rink in the cutoff. He thought for a little bit and then moved all in for 97,700. Action then folded over to the player in the big blind who moved all in as well. It looked to be right around the same amount as Rink. Strechar folded his hand and the hands were tabled.

Rink: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Rink stayed in front. The turn brought the {K-Hearts} to add a third heart to the board. This made Rink's hand a bit stronger as he took away the {Q-Hearts} as an out for his opponent. The river then completed the board with the {4-Diamonds}, not what RInk's opponent was pleading so much for.

After the final count of the chips, Rink did indeed have his opponent covered by a tiny margin. He scooped in the chips and moved his stack to just about 200,000 in chips.

Play Resumes

The cards are back in the air after yet another extended break.

There is talk between the players and tournament staff that we will play two more levels before going on a one-hour dinner break. We will then return and play down to the final twenty-four before calling it a night.

So far, no word has been confirmed on the exact details of play for the night, but once we know, you will too!
