Team PokerStars Pro Dennis Phillips isn’t enjoying a great start to his tournament and is down to 7,000 after check-calling two streets on a

board and check-folding the
river. With blinds introducing antes next level he’s going to have to make some moves pretty soon.
It's another 15-minute break.
Maria "Maridu" Mayrinck has nearly doubled-up, eliminating a player with a few less chip than herself. The player in question raised from mid-position and Mayrinck called from the BB to see a

flop where all the chips went in. Mayrinck tabled
and her opponent winced when he opened
for a smaller flush draw. The turn came
and river
to send pot the Brazilian’s way. She on 22,000 now.
Table 23 is the action table, no doubt about that. Michael Piper and Aaron Lerner have been up and down (Piper is currently up and Lerner a little down) and perhaps the biggest pot in the tournament so far has just taken place between Luis Carlos Hernandez and Fernando X (this is not lazy reporting, Fernando point-blank refused to tell us his family name). 'Mr X' had open raised to 1,050 from middle position and was three-bet to 3,000 by Hernandez who had the convenient combination of pocket Kings and the button. X insta-called. Hernandez bet another 3,000 on the

flop and was quickly check-raised to 9,000. Hernandez didn’t wait long before moving all-in but X did before calling off his remaining 19,000 with
for the nut flush draw and an over. No club or bullet bit Hernandez who was left stackint a healthy 67,000 stack as the mysterious Fernando stomped off into the distance.
Daniela Zapiello is now down to 22,000 after losing two pots in a row and the second of these pots ended with a touch of controversy. The first pot was only a smallish loss in a battle of the blinds where she flopped middle pair and a gutshot draw but her opponent had top pair and took the pot.
The very next hand she raised to 800 from the button and was called by Fabio Arguello in the big blind to see a

flop. Both players checked before Arguello led for 1,000 on the
turn. Zapiello called quickly to go to the
river where she faced a 2,200 bet. She quickly picked up 6,200 chips and was about to raise but paused to study her opponent, all the time playing with her chips. She eventually put the chips in for the raise but insta-folded to Arguello's all-in announcement. The dealer got a little confused and turned over Zapiello’s hand (
) before he was swiftly corrected. To say Zapiello was annoyed is an understatement. It shows us the girl’s got game although I'm not sure she wanted everyone to know that.
We reported earlier about Dennis Phillips’ stack heading north while Daniela Zapiello’s stack was heading in the opposite direction. It’s a case of role reversal now as the American has just 4,000 left while the Brazilian is up to 30,000. The two were tangling a lot earlier so she may well have been the beneficiary of his chips. We’ll be on Phillips watch to see him bust or get back in it.
Marty Mathis, aka TheLipoFund, is sat nursing an 8,000 stack. The young American isn’t thrilled about how his tournament is progressing but seems more than a little pleased with the unwieldy wooden Peruvian idol that he’s using as a card protector. ‘Hey, at least I’m making the table smell of mahogany!’ said Mathis who has some $860,000 tournament winnings to his name online. He's going to need his new idol to start bringing him some cards and/or good situations pretty soon if he's going to repeat his online success here in Lima.
Leo Fernandez is over his starting stack for what might be the first time in this tournament with 21,000. He was sat in the BB and saw a

flop with two other players and check-called a 1,150 bet from a player on the button. The third party folded to leave it heads-up to the
turn. Both players checked before Fernandez led for 1,600 on the
river. The button player called but mucked upon seeing the Argentine Team PokerStars Pro’s
for trips.
