Action Slows

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

After a flurry of action last level, things have slowed considerably now. None of the six remaining players has a commanding chip lead, and all seem nervous to commit many pre-flop. We've seen a few three-bets in the last thirty minutes but all have gone uncalled.

Small Hit for Ferri

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Even though Kemal Ferri has the chip lead, he can't lose too many pots. His 1.8-million chip stack represents only 36 big blinds at this point. 1.55 million after losing a small pot to Raul Pino. Pino opened to 125,000 pre-flop, with Ferri tagging along from the big blind. Both players checked a king-high flop, {8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Ferri also checked the {10-Hearts} turn but didn't fold to Pino's bet of 125,000. He called to the river {q-Hearts} which both players checked. Pino's {a-Spades}{10-Spades}, a pair of tens, was good enough to claim the pot.

Hodali Doubles through Gonzales

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Samar Hodali
Samar Hodali

Poker players coined the phrase "suck, re-suck" for the type of hand that just took place at the final table. Samar Hodali was all in on the flop against Pablo Gonzales with an over-pair of 10s against Gonzales' top pair of eights. Gonzales turned two pair to take the lead but Hodali spiked her two-outer set on the river to double up and stay alive. She now has about a million in chips, wihle Gonzales has just slightly less.

Daniel Ospina Eliminated in 7th Place ($23,220)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Ospina - 7th place
Daniel Ospina - 7th place

Many players would be filled to finish in 7th-place in today's tournament. For Daniel Ospina it has to be a disappointment. Ospina led this tournament since Day 1 but a series of unlucky hands crippled him early at this final table. With about 10 big blinds remaining, Ospina open-shoved from the button with {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Kemal Ferri held {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} in the big blind and went for the kill. Each player caught a piece of the flop, {7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Ferri had top set; Ospina had an up-and-down straight draw. Running nines, {9-Diamonds} and {9-Spades}, gave Ferri a full house and sent Ospina to the rail in a disappointing 7th-place. He shook everyone's hand before going to collect his winnings and -- perhaps -- to think about what might have been.

Back-to-Back Hits for Barham

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Barham's stack is quickly evaporating. Two hands cost him half his stack. First, sitting in the big blind, he called a raise to 120,000 made by Samar Hodali. Barham checked an all-small flop of {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}, prompting Hodali to move all in. Barham open-folded {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, prompting Hodali to show {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

The next hand Barham opened to 140,000 on the button and was called by Kemal Ferri in the big blind. Ferri check-called another 140,000 on a king-high flop, {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Both players checked the {9-Spades} turn. At the {7-Hearts} river, Barham sighed, shook his head and folded in the face of a 300,000-chip bet from Ferri.
