Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu has been staying nice and active on the feature table up on the stage. Here's a few hands he recently played all in a row.
On the first hand, action folded to Negreanu in the small blind. The shorter-stacked Sami Nadim Nasser was in the big blind and Negreanu announced a raise to 300,000. Nasser took a minute and then folded, leaving himself with about 110,000 in chips.
On the next hand, action folded over to Negreanu on the button and he raised to 22,000. Nasser shoved in from the small blind for 108,000. Negreanu took some time, but eventually folded his hand and showed that he was laying down the .
Then, Negreanu opened to 22,000 from the cutoff seat and Felipe Morbiducci called from the big blind to see the flop come down . Both checked and the turn was the . Morbiducci bet 27,000 and Negreanu folded. Morbiducci showed the .
Hugo Mora opened the action with a raise to 23,000, and Daniel Nestola three-bet to 51,000. Mora was undeterred, though, four-bet shoving for just about 400,000 total. Nestola snap-called, and the cards were turned up.
It was for Mora, but he'd run into the pocket aces of Nestola. There was no help on board for the at-risk player, and he's been ushered outside the ropes as the 18th-place finisher. He'll earn R$9,220 for his efforts here this week.
Fabio Leite had been whittled down to just 49,000 when he got the last of his stack into the middle preflop. Vitor Torres looked him up with , and Leite's superior had him poised for a double.
The flop was a clean start, but we've already spoiled the story with that post title. The turn was the kiss of death for Leite, and he could not catch back up as the filled out the board.
The two men shook hands, and Leite is headed off to the cashier to pick up his paycheck.
First into the pot from the button, Ioannis Beris raised to 17,000, and Hugo Mora three-bet to 40,000 next door in the small blind. Beris let out a big sigh as if he were frustrated, but he ended up making a reraise to 77,000 total to put the decision back on his opponent. Mora was undeterred, though, reraising all in for 318,000 total.
"Got some raises goin' on over here," Daniel Negreanu said, just barely looking up as he pecked away maniacally on his iPhone's keypad.
Beris spent a couple minutes in the tank, considering a call for all but 40,000 of his chips. Eventually, though, he double-checked his cards and returned them into the muck, leaving 281,000 in front of him.
Robinson Quiroga was very short on chips when he took his stand with . Felipe Morbiducci's was sufficient to make the call, and Quiroga was five cards from the exit.
The board came out , and Quiroga could not get over the hump. He's been sent off in 20th place, stopping by the cashier to pick up a check for R$9,220 on his way out the door.
From the hijack seat, Amauri Grutka raised to 16,000. Felipe Morbiducci called from the small blind and the flop came down . After Morbiducci checked, Grutka bet 21,000. Immediately, Morbiducci announced a raise. He took a few moments and then slid out the amount — 61,000. Grutka came back with a shove for about 175,000 total and Morbiducci snapped.
Grutka:
Morbiducci:
Grutka was well behind the top pair, top kicker for Morbiducci and needed a lot of help to stay alive. The on the turn left him drawing dead before the completed the board on the river. Morbiducci won the pot and Grutka was eliminated.
While Grutka was making his exit, Daniel Negreanu leaned forward over the table to get a closer, more clearer look at the board and the two hands. "I'm trying to figure out if I really just saw what I saw or if I just way too hungover," he commented with a smile after Grutka left the stage.
"Welcome to Brazil, Daniel," said one of the other players from across the table.
