Players Enjoy Some Moroccan Hospitality With the Start of the Marrakech Poker Open Main Event at 1 p.m.

Amidst a blazing sun and luxurious atmosphere, the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort once again welcomes the poker world when Day 1a of the 12,500 MAD (€1,200) Marrakech Poker Open Main Event begins today at 1 p.m. local time.

The first starting flight features 14 40-minute levels, with a break after every three levels. Players begin with a 35,000 starting stack and have unlimited reentries available during the registration period. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 10, which should come around 8:30 p.m.

There is also a turbo Day 1b flight featuring 15-minute levels beginning at 9 p.m. The remaining field combines for Day 2 tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. to play down to a final table. The action will be live-streamed on the Casino de Marrakech’s official YouTube and Twitch channels beginning on Day 2.

Orey Canarinho of Spain won this event last year, defeating a field of 215 entries to win 348,500 MAD (€32,759) after a heads-up deal with Aitor Cruz. Sonny Franco and Fabian Rolli were also among those who made a run to the final table. Among the players expected in the field today is Benjamin Hammann, who took down the High Roller event last night for 400,000 MAD (€38,090) after prevailing over a field of 95 players.
