12,500 MAD Main Event
Day 2 Completed
Javier Tsunamy's chip stack on Day 2 of the 12,500 MAD Marrakech Poker Open Main Event lived up to his name, as it continued to rise until threatening to drown the rest of the field.
Tsunamy takes the chip lead into tomorrow’s final table after bagging up 1,965,000. The Spaniard went on a late flurry of eliminations, taking out Jonathan Khalifa in 23rd when he made running trips on the river. Tsunamy then turned a flush to bust Isabel Baltazar in 20th. He kept on running over the table from there, making two pair to send out Victor Rerolle in 18th before finally taking out Mohammed Drissaoui in 14th when he rivered a pair of kings. Tsunamy won another big pot right at the end of the night when he turned the nut flush against Luigi Macaluso.
Macaluso ended up in second place with 1,230,000, but his day was not without some controversy. After Omar Lakhdari had raised all but one 5,000 chip and Macaluso called, the two players checked down the board and Macaluso took the pot with a pair of jacks. Tsunamy accused the two players of collusion, and Macaluso was given a one-round penalty.

Conan needed to win the coin flip to avoid elimination on the final table bubble, but Forge's jacks remained in the lead through the 9♠3♦7♠A♣7♣ board to send Conan to the rail in 10th place.
The remaining nine players are bagging up their chips for tomorrow's final table.
On the last hand of the night, Alejandro Ganivet raised to 40,000 in the cutoff and Pablo Redrado called in the big blind.
The flop came Q♦8♦6♣ and Ganivet bet 50,000. Redrado called to the 2♣ turn, where Ganivet bet another 70,000. Redrado again called.
Redrado then led out for 45,000 on the Q♣ and Ganivet leaned back in his chair for a minute before calling. Redrado showed 7♠5♦ for a missed straight draw, while Ganivet had 10♠10♥ to win the pot.
Luigi Macaluso, back from his penalty, raised to 55,000 in the cutoff with Q♦3♦ and Javier Tsunamy called in the small blind holding A♣9♣.
The flop came Q♣J♥3♣ and Macaluso continued for 115,000 with top pair. Tsunamy called with a flush draw as the 8♣ turn gave him his flush.
Tsunamy then led out for 215,000 and Macaluso called. The river was the 10♠ and Tsunamy bet another 390,000. Macaluso folded his pair this time and Tsunamy took the pot.
Javier Tsunamy raised to 40,000 under the gun with A♣4♥ and Alejandro Ganivet defended 5♥2♠.
The A♠3♠2♦ flop gave both players a pair and straight draw. Tsunamy then bet 35,000 and Ganivet raised to 120,000.
Tsunamy took a minute before moving all in and Ganivet folded for his last 550,000.
Bogdan Vulcan raised to 40,000 in early position and Said El Yousfi three-bet to 320,000 in the big blind. Vulcan then moved all in and El Yousfi called for 420,000.
Said El Yousfi: A♦K♣
Bogdan Vulcan: A♣A♠
El Yousfi had run into Vulcan's aces and found no help on the J♠J♣7♦2♠3♥ board as he was eliminated in 11th place. Mounir Tajiou came over to embrace El Yousfi after the hand.
"You did your best. It's a flip, because sometimes you have that," Tajiou consoled him.
Omar Lakhdari tossed in his last 5,000 from the hijack, Alejandro Ganivet raised to 50,000 on the button, and the rest of the table got out of the way.
Omar Lakhdari: Q♠9♦
Alejandro Ganivet: 6♠6♣
Lakhdari hit a pair on the 9♠3♦7♠ flop, while the rest of the board came A♣7♣ and Lakhdari doubled up.
The next hand, Lakhdari raised to 30,000 under the gun, Javier Tsunamy reraised on the button, and Lakhdari put in his last 15,000.
Omar Lakhdari: 8♥5♥
Javier Tsunamy: K♣Q♣
Lakhdari again hit a pair on the 5♣4♦3♣ flop, while Tsunamy picked up a flush draw. The turn was the 9♠, while the A♣ gave Tsunamy his flush and sent Lakhdari to the rail in 12th place.
Bogdan Vulcan raised to 40,000 under the gun and Mounir Tajiou called in the hijack. Said El Yousfi then moved all in for 190,000 in the small blind and Vulcan folded. "That's a very smart move from you," Tajiou said to Vulcan as he snap-called.
Said El Yousfi: J♣J♥
Mounir Tajiou: K♦K♣
Tajiou had woken up with kings to leave El Yousfi at risk of elimination, but El Yousfi caught a set on the J♦10♦8♥ flop. The rest of the board ran out 6♦6♥ and El Yousfi improved to a full house to secure the double up.
