Big Stack Alert

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Cees van Brugge won the € 1,500 + 90 No Limit Hold'em re-entry event here in the Holland Casino a few days ago and seems to continue his run good in the Main Event as well. The Dutchman currently sits at 140,000 in chips and should be among the top five in the overall count.

Run like Schemion

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

In early position, Ole Schemion raised to 1,500 and was called by Erik Sturkenboom in the cutoff and Mario Grootkerk on the button. On the {2-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop Schemion check-raised from 2,100 to 6,625 and only Grootkerk called that to see the {6-Clubs} on the turn. Schemion fired 12,500 straight away and was called once again before making it 33,325 to go after the {J-Hearts} fell as final community card.

Grootkerk decided to call and then mucked when the German, now living in Vienna, turned over {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}.

Game over for Terlaan

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Short after the previous confrontation, Clyde Terlaan four-bet shoved for 9,200 chips with {A-} {Q-} into pocket kings and a king on the flop destroyed all hope of a comeback for the third place finisher of the previous year.

It's Gone Downhill for Lakemeier

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The past few levels haven't been pleasant for Jens Lakemeier and he dropped to 15,000 in chips. The remainder of the stack went in with {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts} versus {K-} {7-} after the German had picked up a gutshot and flush draw on the flop. His opponent was ahead with two pair and turn as well as river blanked out.

Terlaan getting Short

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Joining the action on the river of a {Q-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {9-Clubs} river, Clyde Terlaan called the all in of a short stack for 18,800 with {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} only to see the opponent turn over {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} for a set of queens. The third place finisher of the MCOP 2013 is now short with less than 20 big blinds left.

Mackoff in the Lead

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The tables downstairs must be almost empty as more and more players get moved up into the main area such as Robbie Bakker. Andrew Chen was transferred over two levels ago already and clashed with fellow Canadian Jonas Mackoff in a big pot. Mackoff check-called on the flop and turn of a {Q-Spades} {6-Spades} {4-} flop and {7-} turn before check-raising all in after the {4-Spades} river to take 41,000 off Chen during the entire hand.

Mackoff then busted a short-stack for 15,000 with {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} versus {2-} {4-} after a {3-} {4-} {5-} flop with two diamonds.

Former big stack Alexander Denisov doesn't have as many chips anymore, though the Russian is still well above average.

Moreira de Melo Fighting Back

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

Fatima Moreira de Melo has not had the best of days but she's making a bit of a comeback late on. On the turn of a {4-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} board, Jan Sjavik checked and de Melo bet 4,000 with only around 8,000 behind. The veteran Norwegian player rechecked his cards and then opted to fold.

Too Many Outs

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On the table of Andrew Chen and Jussi Nevanlinna, Farid Chati flopped top pair and the nut flush draw with {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs} on a board of {A-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs}. He even turned the {3-Spades} for even more outs, yet the {Q-Diamonds} was a brick as the opponent held {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for the set.
