The numbers are in—345 total entries have been recorded in Day 1a of the $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final, making it a strong opener for one of the Mediterranean Poker Party’s flagship events. With 155 players still in the hunt as Level 11 begins, the pace is picking up as the field narrows toward the finish line.
Late registration is officially closed, and the remaining players will battle through five more 40-minute levels before bagging up for Day 2.
Azamat Tulepbergenov opened from early position to 24,000 and Ali Zebarjad called from two seats over. A player on the button also called.
When the flop came 9♦6♣4♠, Tulepbergenov elected not to continue and checked, then Zebarjad fired 51,000. The button folded, and Tulepbergenov's cards also followed into the muck.
Zebarjad is a regular at Merit events and picked up his career-best score in January when he finished sixth in the Warm Up at the Merit Poker Western Series.

Georgios Tsouloftas raised to 30,000 and the player to his left put in a three-bet to 100,000. When it got back to Tsouloftas, he four-bet shoved for 304,000, and was quickly called.
Georgios Tsouloftas: 10♦9♦
Opponent: Q♠Q♣
Tsouloftas needed a lot of help from the dealer and managed to find it when the flop came down J♦9♣10♥, giving him two pair. His opponent had an overpair with an open-ender but couldn't connect as the runout of 5♥2♠ kept Tsouloftas' two pair in the lead.
On a board of 9♦J♣A♣Q♦, there were 135,000 chips in the pot when Cedric Schwaederle checked from under the gun and Georgios Tsouloftas bet 55,000 from the next seat. Schwaederle then check-shoved for 249,000, and after some thinking, Tsouloftas called.
Tsouloftas had outs to a flush draw and trips but Schwaederle had the best of it with two pair. Both players improved on the A♦ river as Tsouloftas hit a flush, but that same card gave Schwaederle a full house and the double-up.
With Level 12 nearly in the books, just 110 players remain from the 345 who started Day 1a of the $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final. The field has thinned considerably over the last few hours, and the pressure is mounting as players eye a coveted Day 2 bag.
Once Level 13 wraps up, the field will head out on a 20-minute break, leaving just two more levels to play before chips are sealed for the night. The full Day 1a structure—15 total levels with a progressive clock—will conclude tonight, and only the largest stack for each player will move forward to Day 2.
Banksy has held the chip lead for the majority of Day 1a and has just added yet more chips to his ever-growing stack, which is becoming hard to count.
The board read 7♣6♣6♥10♥ and with over 400,000 in the middle, the small blind checked. Banksy, in the big blind, counted out a bet of 365,000 and slid it across the line. After some consideration, the small blind folded, allowing Banksy to collect more chips.
