After a fun-filled week at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, it’s time for the opening day of the Merit Poker Dolce Vita Series Main Event.
Day 1a of the $2,200 La Notte Degli Assi begins today at 12:00 p.m. local time, with tournament boasting a guaranteed $1,500,000 prize pool.
Action has been busy throughout the series, and a big field is expected as the marquee event gets underway. The schedule features four opening flights across three days of play, with Day 1a kicking things off this afternoon. That will be followed by Day 1b on Tuesday, July 30 before the last pair of flights on Wednesday, July 31.

Each entrant will receive 100,000 chips, and Day 1a will begin with blinds of 200/500 and a 500 big blind ante. Players will try to navigate their way through nine levels of 60 minutes in length on the opening day, with 15-minute breaks after every two hours of play.
Players may enter as many times as they like, as the event features unlimited reentries. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 14 on Day 2.

Four players went to a flop of 10♦5♥4♣ where Mark Helou bet 2,500 in the big blind. Seyedali Hosseinirami called under the gun, as did Louis Diab in the small blind.
Action checked to Hosseinirami on the 4♥ turn and he bet 15,000. Only Diab called this time as the K♠ fell on the river.
Both players then checked and Diab showed 3♥2♥ for missed straight and flush draws. Hosseinirami turned over 10♠8♠ for two pair as he took the pot.

With around 12,000 in the pot on a board of 8♦5♥3♣2♥, Vasilii Kurguzov bet 2,500 from under the gun before Abdelrahman Moursy raised to 12,000 on the button. Kurguzov then reraised to 40,500 and Moursy called.
The river was the A♥ and Kurguzov moved all in for around 70,000. Moursy quickly folded and Kurguzov took the pot.

Vasilii Kurguzov raised to 1,500 in the cutoff and Bakhos Joumaa called on the button. Azamat Lamkov then three-bet to 6,000 in the small blind and Kurguzov came back with a four-bet to 17,000.
Joumaa got out of the way, but Lamkov then five-bet to 46,000. Kurguzov quickly moved all in for the second time already today and Lamkov tanked for around 30 seconds before calling for 98,500.

Kurguzov caught the last king in the deck on the K♣8♣3♥ flop and Lamkov was already getting up from his seat to make his exit as the 5♥ fell on the turn. The river, though, was the 6♥ and Lamkov completed the nut flush to win the pot and double up.

Louis Diab and Sergey Fedotov built a pot of around 20,000 as they went heads-up to the turn on a board of J♣Q♠9♣9♦. Both players then checked to the 8♣ river.
Fedotov led out for 12,000 from the hijack and Diab came back with a raise to 35,000. Fedotov quickly called and Diab turned over Q♣Q♦ for a full house to win the pot.

Heads-up on a board of 7♣10♠8♦4♦, Vadzim Haiduk bet 7,500 from the cutoff and Minerva Onofrio called under the gun.
The river was the Q♦ and Haiduk bet another 20,000. Onofrio took about a minute before calling again.
Haiduk showed A♠10♦ for a pair of tens, but Onofrio had Q♣9♠ for a rivered pair of queens to win the pot.
