The guaranteed prize pool of $1,500,000 is expected to be passed today at the Merit Poker Dolce Vita Series, where 606 entrants have already battled on the felt through the first two flights of the $2,200 La Notte Degli Assi.
Just 224 of them have found a bag at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, where more hopefuls and some returning players will look to collect a big stack on Day 1c. Action begins at 12 p.m. local time, while a turbo flight will follow at 7 p.m. local time when Day 1d gets underway.
So far, Greece’s Symeon Alexandridis leads all surviving players after bagging up 917,500 chips on Day 1b. Samir Nacer was the leader after Monday’s opening flight with 703,500, giving players a glimpse of what type of stack it will take to be among the leaders heading into Day 2 on Thursday, August 1.

Day 1c gets underway at 12:00 p.m. with 40-minute levels, starting with blinds of 200/500 and a 500 big blind ante. Players begin with 100,000 chips, and the event includes unlimited reentries.
Those that fail to find a bag on any of the opening flights can still buy in on Day 2, as late registration remains open until the end of Level 14.

On the first hand of the day, Jad Dandachi raised to 1,000 on the button and Mantas Urbonas called in the big blind.
The flop came Q♦10♣8♠ and Dandachi continued for 2,500. Urbonas called and the A♦ fell on the turn.
Dandachi then bet 4,500 and Urbonas again called. The river was the 8♦ and Dandachi bet 36,000.
Urbonas took a minute but eventually decided to fold as Dandachi took the first pot of Day 1c.

Both players checked the 6♥ turn and the river was the 4♥. Kamar then led out for 9,000 and Zapateria called.
Kamar showed 5♥5♦ for a straight and Zapateria mucked.
