2025 Merit Poker Carmen Series
Iurii Grigorev picked up a premium hand, but was disappointed to see that he was up against a slightly better hand held by Axel Hallay after the two got their chips in preflop blind-on-blind.
Axel Hallay: A♥A♦
Iurii Grigorev: K♣K♠
Hallay had the shorter stack and managed to double it up as the 7♣9♣3♣J♦5♥ runout kept his bullets in the lead. Grigorev, however, dropped down to around 700,00—even with Hallay.

The floor have informed the players that Day 3 will end after 12 levels or when the final table is reached, whichever comes sooner.
There was an open from the hijack to 120,000 and Yilu Yuan shoved the cutoff for around 1,100,000. Cornelis Van Gent was in the big blind and after a short tank, he made the call, and the initial raiser folded.
Yilu Yuan: A♦K♣
Cornelis Van Gent: 9♥9♠
It was a classic coinflip that Yuan needed to win as he was the at-risk player. A flop of K♥Q♥8♥ kept things interesting as Yuan flopped top pair but van Gent picked up a flush draw. The 5♦ turn was red, but not the kind the van Gent needed, and the 2♣ river was as bricky as they come.

Kirill Shcherbakov knows exactly how to play pocket jacks and it sent his stack storming to the top of the leaderboard.
Yilu Yuan opened the button to 175,000 and Shcherbakov three-bet from the small blind to 700,000. After the big blind folded, Yuan shoved for around 2,000,000, and Shcherbakov quickly called.
Yilu Yuan: A♥5♥
Kirill Shcherbakov: J♥J♣
Yuan still had decent equity and picked up four more outs when the flop came down 10♦3♦2♣ as he improved to a wheel draw. A 2♦ on the turn kept the jacks of Shcherbakov in the lead, and Yuan was eliminated when the 10♠ dropped on the river.
Big, big pot for Shcherbakov.

Iurii Grigorev got back on track after just doubling up through Kristaps Vismanis. There was an open from middle position from Vismanis and Grigorev's stack of around 500,000 went into the middle from the small blind. Vismanis made the call.
Iurii Grigorev: A♥K♠
Kristaps Vismanis: A♦Q♠
Both players paired their ace on the river after the board ran out 6♠3♥4♣9♥A♠, but the kicker of Grigorev played and he was shipped the pot.

Francisco Moreno was short-stacked for most of the day and got his last 290,000 in the middle after Rui Querido Martins had opened the hijack. Once the blinds folded, Martins called to leave Moreno at risk.
Francisco Moreno: A♠7♣
Rui Querido Martins: A♥K♣
Moreno needed some help from the runout and despite flopping some chop outs, he couldn't stay alive on the 9♠5♥5♣3♠6♦ board.
