"I Had You Dead to Rights"

Harry Silver
Harry Silver

In Level 8 (400/800/800), David Feigenbaum limped from the hijack and Harry Silver raised to 2,300 from the cutoff. Steve Braverman called from the button, both blinds folded, and Feigenbaum came along to make it three-way action to the {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Spades} flop.

Two checks saw Braverman bet 4,400, Feigenbaum folded, and Silver called to see the {6-Spades} turn.

Silver turned around and led out for 7,000 and a frustrated Braverman chucked his hand to the muck.

"I had you dead to rights," Braverman claimed.

"Then why didn't you call?" Silver asked.

"Because I didn't like that spade," Braverman said before claiming to have folded {a-}{q-}.

"You Can't Win If You Fold"

Tom Gity
Tom Gity

In Level 8 (400/800/800), Chris Moneymaker limped under the gun and Tom Gity raised to 4,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Moneymaker and he paused for a few beats.

"You can't win if you fold," he said before putting in a call.

When the flop came down {7-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}, Moneymaker checked and Gity continued for 7,000. Moneymaker wasted little time in check-raising all in for around 30,000 and Gity hit the tank.

"I guess I'll try some of your luck," Gity said before calling off for 27,200 total.

Tom Gity: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Chris Moneymaker: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Moneymaker was ahead but Gity went with his two overs. The {8-Spades} turn gave Gity a spade flush draw and unfortunately for Moneymaker it came in when the {9-Spades} spiked on the river.

"Sorry, buddy," Gity offered.

"I've still got a little life left in me," Moneymaker said with a smile as he counted out the chips. He was left with 3,000 after the hand.

One for Moneymaker

In Level 7 (300/600/600), the players in the cutoff and button both limped before Rich Kelleher did the same from the small blind. Chris Moneymaker then exercised his option with a raise to 2,500 out of the big.

The first two limpers folded, Kelleher called, and the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

Kelleher checked and then folded his {k-}{q-} face up after Moneymaker continued for 2,200.
