Down to 23

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The field is down to 23 players which means action has halted. Players are now bagging and tagging. Stay tuned for a list of survivors complete with chip counts.

Steege Done in By Phonphornwithoon

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Casey Steege got the last of his chips all in preflop and found himself in dire straits against Wanlop Phonphornwithoon.

Wanlop Phonphornwithoon: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Casey Steege: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The {2-}{q-}{j-} flop gave Steege a gutshot Broadway draw but he missed as a {7-} bricked on the turn followed by another {q-} on the river.

Steege bowed out in 25th place, which means hand-for-hand play will begin. Just one more player needs to fall before the money is made and Day 1b comes to an end.

Felix Felted By Socorro

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

We saw Duane Felix walking away from the table and learned after the fact that he had gotten his short stack all in preflop against Daniel Socorro.

Duane Felix: {3-}{3-}
Daniel Socorro: {8-}{8-}

The board ran out clean and Felix took his leave in 26th place, just three spots shy of making the money.

Weinberg Flips for Tournament Life

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Paul Smerdon opened for 15,000 from the lojack and called when Michael Weinberg three-bet all in for 74,000 from the small blind.

Paul Smerdon: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Michael Weinberg: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

It was a big flip and Weinberg was looking to hold to stay alive. The {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop gave Smerdon a flush draw to go with his overs, but fortunately for Weinberg the {2-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} river were safe cards for him.
