Wasicka's Kings Crush Queens

Phil Ivey and Paul Wasicka
Phil Ivey and Paul Wasicka
From the cutoff seat, Phil Ivey raised to 6,000. Paul Wasicka three-bet to 18,000 on the button and then the player in the small blind moved all in for about 40,000 total. Ivey folded and Wasicka made the call.

Wasicka had two kings to his opponent's two queens and the board ran out {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Wasicka is now on about 260,000 chips.

Pahuja Busts Riccobono

In a blind vs. blind limped pot, the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Al Riccobono bet 5,000 and Vinny Pahuja called. The {9-Hearts} hit the turn and Riccobono bet about 14,000. Pahuja went all in for Riccobono called all in for the rest of his stack.

Riccobono: {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Pahuja: {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Riccobono turned a straight and had a diamond, but was drawing thin against Pahuja's flopped flush. The river was a blank for Riccobono and he was sent to the rail.

Ivey, Ahead on Every Street, Collects Value

At times it seems like Phil Ivey remains in this tournament simply because he wants to be here. If for some reason that attitude changed -- for example, if Tiger Woods fails to make the cut tomorrow -- it almost seems like Ivey would find something else to do.

For the moment, Ivey remains a fixture in the tournament, his attention divided between his table and the giant screen showing the Masters. He's become a bit more active recently, opening more pots. He opened to 6,000 and was called only by the big blind. Ivey continued for 9,000 on a flop of {9-Spades} {J-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and the big blind called again.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn. When the river came {Q-Diamonds}, the big blind bet 12,700. Ivey quickly called. His pair of queens, {Q-Clubs} {K-Spades} out-kicked his opponent's {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}.

"I guess I needed a king and not a queen," his opponent said after the hand.

Wasicka's Ace Outkicks Raghavan's

In middle position, Ravi "govshark2" Raghavan made it 5,200 to go. Paul Wasicka called from the cutoff and the rest of the table folded.

The flop came down {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Raghavan bet 7,500. Wasicka called and the {5-Diamonds} followed on the turn. This time Raghavan check-called 7,500 from Wasicka. The river brought the {9-Clubs} and both shut down and checked. Wasicka tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, besting Raghavan's {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Wasicka is up to 180,000 while Raghavan slips to 120,000.

No Stopping D'Angelo; Fernandez Eliminated

Fernandez busted by g0lfa
Fernandez busted by g0lfa
Ryan D'Angelo doesn't seem to be getting much credit today and that is working out just fine for him as he has increased his stack to nearly 500,000.

Jacobo Fernandez opened to 5,600 under the gun and D'Angelo made the call from the big blind. The flop came down {5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades} and D'Angelo checked. Fernandez bet 11,000 and D'Angelo popped it 28,500. Fernandez called, leading to the {5-Spades} turn card. D'Angelo took his time, calmly placing a bet of 38,500. Fernandez asked how much it was, then went all in. D'Angelo snap-called with {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and was well ahead of Fernandez's {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

"Black card please," D'Angelo said to the dealer. The {10-Diamonds} hit the river and that was just fine for Ryan, now up to 475,000.

Phillips Puts Table to the Test

Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips
A player in early position raised to 4,500, and Dennis Phillips quickly made it 11,100. The small blind called. The woman in the big blind took a while to make her decision, and the original raiser attempted to muck while she tanked. Eventually she called, and he threw away his hand.

Flop: {9-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} - The small blind checked, and the big blind fired 12,000. Phillips tank-called, and the small blind gave it up disgustedly.

Turn: {Q-Spades} - Ms. Big Blind checked instantly, and Phillips bet 22,000. She held up her cards and showed them to the small blind before tossing them to the dealer.

As Phillips raked in the pot, the small blind said he'd had big slick and asked if he'd four-bet if they were getting it in.

"Oh yeah," Dennis said.

"So I'd lose a flip then?"

Phillips wasn't sure what he wanted to reveal and took a second to deliver a considered answer. "Well, you'd lose for sure with what came out."

Bet, Win

Easy game? After the button opened with a raise to 6,000, both blinds -- Vincent Procopio and Jeff Madsen -- called. All players checked a {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades} flop. Madsen fired 12,500 on the {Q-Hearts} turn and took down the pot.

He flashed the {10-Spades}.

Ivey Movin' Up

Roland Isra raised from the cutoff and then Phil Ivey reraised from the small blind 13,000 more. Isra flatted and the two went to a flop.

The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} and Ivey fired 26,000. Isra folded and Ivey won the pot.

On the next hand, Ravi Raghavan opened with a raise to 5,200 from the cutoff seat and then Ivey three-bet to 17,000. Raghavan folded and Ivey won another pot. He's now up to 145,000 chips.
