Gibbons Gets His Card

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jonathan Schroer opened to 22,000 from middle position, and Joseph Gibbons flatted on the button. From the small blind, Jacobo Fernandez raised to 87,000, Schroer folded, and Gibbons flatted again, committing more than half his stack to the pot preflop.

The dealer burned and spread {9-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}. Fernandez shoved, and Gibbons called off his last 80,000 to put himself at risk. He was well ahead, though, turning up {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} for the set against Fernandez's {A-Spades} {K-Spades}.

The turn {10-Clubs} secured Gibbon's double, and he's back up to about 385,000 now. Fernandez could afford to donate that double, and he's still got 645,000 chips to work with.
