Calling with Jack High

Action folded to Van Marcus in the small blind and he limped in. David Benyamine checked his option in the big blind and they went to a flop, which came the {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Both players checked to see the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. Both checked again and the {K-Spades} plopped down on the river. Marcus fired the minimum for 6,000 and Benyamine called.

What'd he call with? Well, just the {J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for jack high. Marcus mucked and the table reveled about Benyamine being the best.

Van Marcus

Kelly Kim opened with a raise to 14,000 from middle position and Van Marcus called out of the big blind after confirming how deep Kim was playing. The two took a flop of {J-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Marcus check-called a bet of 15,000 from Kim.

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {8-Hearts} and Marcus checked again. Kim fired 34,000 and Marcus tanked for a while. He eventually folded and left himself with 230,000 while Kim increased to 195,000.

Play Slows

With the players now seated across three tables and only nine eliminations from the money, play has tightened up quite a bit. This normally happens as the players get closer to the money and start realizing they've almost made it to a cash. The short stacks are holding on while the big stacks aren't trying to jeopardize their position.
