The first highlight of the 2019 PokerStars LIVE Asia Red Dragon Jeju festival will determine a champion at the Landing Casino on the island of Jeju in South Korea as the ₩5,000,000 High Roller (~$4,315) will come to a conclusion. Thus far, the event has attracted a field of 117 unique players and 23 re-entries, however, both numbers may still increase as the late registration and re-entry period remains open for the first 40-minute level of the day.
Leading the 96 Day 1 survivors into the final day is China's Yiqing Huang with 194,000 closely followed by his countryman Jieming Xu with 181,400. Malaysia's Michael Soyza, who has been one of the rising stars of the Asian poker scene throughout the last few years, sits in third place 172,700 and appears primed for another deep run on South Korean soil in 2019 after a victory and a deep run in the APPT Korea festival earlier in April.
Other notables with an above-average stack heading into Day 2 are Ngoc Anh Cao (165,100), Joshua Zimmerman (159,000), Kazuhiko Yotsushika (125,800), Xixiang Luo (123,100), Guofeng Wang (107,100), Natalie Teh (106,200), Takashi Ogura (102,200), Phachara Wongwichit (101,600), Lester Edoc (100,000), Ben Lai (98,500), and Lei Yu (97,200).
The action resumes with blinds of 800-1,600 and a big blind ante of 1,600. All new entries receive 50,000 in chips and four 30-second time bank extensions while an additional two time banks are granted upon restart as well. Once the final table has been reached, all remaining players will receive another two time banks.
As previously mentioned, the event is scheduled to play down to a champion today and as of the first break, the action will also be streamed live with commentary in Mandarin on the Red Dragon Poker website for the first time. Several other events such as the Main Event are also scheduled to be broadcasted on a delay of 30 minutes en route to crown a champion.
Stay tuned to find out who takes home the High Roller trophy and bragging rights that come along with it here in Jeju as the PokerNews team will be on the floor to provide all the action.
