Gill Bluffs River Huge

Level 8 : 250/500, 500 ante

A hand on Table 2 extended well into the break, as Lorne Gill sent his opponent deep into the tank with a river shove on a board of {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. As the minutes of the break ticked down, it took his opponent five minutes of the break to finally release his hand. As the pot was sliding towards Gill, he triumphantly tabled {k-}{9-} for the king-high bluff.

Break Number Two

Level 8 : 250/500, 500 ante

With eight levels of play in the books, it's time for the second break of the day. Registration closes during this break, so total numbers and prize pool details should be available sometime after that.

Players return to action with blinds at 300/600/600 in Level 9.

Solminao Gets Value from Best Ace

Level 8 : 250/500, 500 ante

Alex Solminao opened the betting with a raise to 1,600, and he was called in four other spots from the cutoff through Tyler Bonkowski in the big blind. The flop came down {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and it checked to Solminao, who bet 3,300.

He was called by both the cutoff and the button players, and the turn {2-Hearts} came three-handed. Once again Solminao bet 3,300, and this time only the button called.

The {q-Spades} hit the river, and Solminao fired 7,000 into the middle. After a few seconds of thought, his opponent tossed in a call, revealing {a-}{9-} against the winning {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for Solminao.

Everyone Loves a Chop Pot

After a limp from under the gun, Casey Nicole raised it up to 2,000. Brad Korchinski shoved over top for about 7,000 and it folded back to Nicole, who called after a short time in the tank.

Both players revealed their hands, and they both showed down pocket nines. The {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board brought no surprises, and they ended up chopping the pot.

Linklater Gets Value

Level 7 : 200/400, 400 ante

It was a limp-fest pre-flop as five players limped in including Lyndon Linklater from the middle. The flop came {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Linklater was the only player who called a bet of 1,500 from early position.

Action checked to Linklater on the {q-Hearts} turn and he bet 3,000. His opponent called, and the {10-Spades} hit the river. Once again, it checked to Linklater who bet 6,000. After a short tank his opponent called, but mucked his {k-}{q-} face up when he saw the flopped two pair of Linklater with {j-}{2-}.

Barton's Pocket Pair Holds

Level 7 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action opened with a limp from Pete Fylyma under the gun, followed by a raise to 1,250 from his immediate left. It folded around to Jordon Barton in the hijack, and he called before the player in the cutoff went all-in for 13,150.

The first two players got out of the way, but Barton went into the tank for half a minute or so before finally tossing in the call with a bigger stack. It was a race with Barton playing a pair of nines versus the ace-queen over cards of his opponent.

The board of {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} was more than clean for the nines, improving it to a turned straight to eliminate his opponent.
