Shin Doubles with Kings

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
Mike Shin
Mike Shin

Action folded around to the cutoff player who raised to 1,400. From the button, Mike Shin re-raised to 4,500. After some debate, Howard Hankin folded the big blind and action returned to the player in the cutoff who declared all-in, having Shin covered. Shin called for his remaining 13,500 chips.

Shin held {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and was up against his opponent's {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

After the flop of {4-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Spades} there was a chorus of "never easy" comments from the table. But Shin was able to dodge the danger and his kings held up as the board completed {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Vang Doubles Through Yeung

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Kou Vang
Kou Vang

Jason Yeung opened to 1400 from middle position and was raised all-in to 8,700 by Kou Vang from the hijack. The player on the button deliberated but eventually folded, as did both blinds. Yeung made the call tabling {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}, giving Vang the bad news with his {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

But Vang caught up as the board ran out {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Déjà Vu: Shin is King Again

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Mike Shin
Mike Shin

The preflop action escaped us but we do know that Mike Shin, who finished 12th in the 2016 WSOP Main Event, got his stack of 10,900 all in preflop and was primed to double.

Mike Shin: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Shin was looking to dodge an ace or some other bad beat, and he did just that as the board came down a safe {6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades}.
