Frazer Frazzles Schwartz with Flush Draw

Spade on the turn makes Frazer
Spade on the turn makes Frazer
Luke Schwartz raised to 65,000 with the {A-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Ian Frazer called from the big blind with the {K-Spades}{6-Spades}.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} and both players picked up a nice piece of it. Fraer added a flush draw and Schwartz top pair. Frazer checked his action and Schwartz bet 95,000. Frazer moved all in and Schwartz snapped him of.

"NO SPADE!" yelled Schwartz, knowing that if he dodged a spade, Frazer would be out in third and he'd have a ton of chips.

The turn card was the {8-Spades} though and Frazer hit his flush. Schwartz did hold the {A-Spades} for the redraw.

"$550 for a spade," he told the dealer.

It didn't come when the {8-Clubs} fell on the river and Schwartz was left with just under ten big blinds.

Things Heating Up

Luke Schwartz is a little bit heated after losing that massive pot to Ian Frazer and made the comment, "It's too retarded." about the stuff that's been happening in the tournament. One of the people on the rail who is Giovanni Safina's translator and friend told Schwartz to "shut up" becaue he thought Schwartz had called Safina retarded, when he was really only commenting on the situation. Schwartz took offense to the person telling him to shut up and they began to argue.

Schwartz may trash talk his opponents and needle them about their play, but he didn't go as far as calling Safina retarded, it was just mistakenly heard. After the tournament director stepped in to clear up the situation, things got back to normal, or at least somewhat normal.

Nice River for Safina

With the pot at 280,000, the board read {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} between Ian Frazer and Giovanni Safina. Safina had rivered a straight holding the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Frazer held two pair with the {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Safina fired 150,000 on the river and Frazer made the call.

Safina tabled the winner with the straight and moved up to 900,000 chips.

Schwartz Doubles Back

Doubling back up
Doubling back up
Luke Schwartz raised all in for 225,000 from the button with the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Giovanni Safina called from the small blind with pocket sixes. When the hands were revealed, Schwartz was disgusted to see Safina pick up a pair.

"Of course you can't have ace-nine, ace-ten, ace-jack, you have to have a pair," he complained.

Schwartz walked off behind the rail and couldn't watch from close. The flop hit him though, when it came {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Schwartz turned and hugged a random lady on the rail when he saw he paired his ace and made his way back to the table.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river was the {K-Clubs}, allowing Schwartz to double back to 480,000.

Big Double for Safina

Safina fades all the outs from Frazer
Safina fades all the outs from Frazer
Ian Frazer raised to 100,000 from the button with the {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. Luke Schwartz folded from the small blind and then Giovanni Safina reraised all in from the big blind for 640,000 holding two red nines. Frazer snapped him off and it would be a race for over 1.2 million chips.

The flop came down {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Safina stayed in the lead, but Frazer added a gutshot straight draw.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and still no help for Frazer.

The river completed the board with the {6-Spades} and Frazer couldn't find any help. Safina was able to stay alive and doubled to nearly 1.3 million.

Frazer On the Attack

Since the level went up, Ian Frazer has picked up his aggression this level and has been raising a lot of pots preflop. He seems to be sensing that the other two are waiting for some hands and adding the blinds to his stack hand after hand.

Frazer Gets Away

Luke Schwartz moved all in for 300,000 with the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} from the button and then Ian Frazer looked down at the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades} in the big blind. Most people might call here, inlcuding Phil Laak who stated that he would've snapped with Frazer's hand and spot. But instead, Frazer folded and Schwartz couldn't believe he folded it.
