Pierre Neuville is not afraid to play an unorthodox style at times, it has brought him a good deal of success over his poker playing career, which started pretty late in his life. In the last level or so though a few hands have gone against him with players making thin value bets and picking off a bluff here and there.
One of the latest was on the river of a board reading where Neuville led out from the small blind for 100,000. Ban Kuo Yong on the button gave it some thought but didn’t take too long to call.
Neuville showed the bluff while Yong tabled the winning
Neuville is still above starting stack though and looking, as usual, unperturbed.
After a good start, Rifat Gegic has been losing big pots left, right, and centre. He moved all-in for his last 37,000 over an early position raise to 17,000. Emanuele Perini used this as an opportunity to shove for his last 250,000 chips and, with the original raiser folding, the cards were on their backs.
Perini's was way out in front of Gegic's , and the flop did nothing to change proceedings. It was all over when the turn paired the board and, as the was dealt on the river as a mere formality, Gegic stood up to hastily leave the tournament area.
Pierre Neuville added some more chips to his stack after taking down a 300,000 chip pot with versus . His opponent checked behind on the river of a board and the Belgian added some more.
Fellow countryman Fabrice Halleux is also on the way up, while Julian Thomas and Jack Sinclair were among those to register recently.
Jan Mach was in the cut-off looking at the turn of a board reading and he checked it over to the player on the button calling himself Weerd, who bet 60,000.
Mach called and they saw the river complete the board.
Another check from Fuchs saw Weerd bet 125,000.
Fuchs called and mucked when Weerd showed him the . That provoked a bit of surprise from a few players at the table who reconstructed the hand a commented on the gut-shot and told Weerd, “nice hand.”
Mach kept his counsel, just a little damage to the stack.
Facing a raise to 20,000 by a player in early position, Sebastian Langrock called and the flop fell . Langrock checked and called a continuation bet for 29,000 in total before both players checked the on the turn. The river saw Langrock lead for 25,000 and his opponent folded.
The German, now based in Vienna, won his first career bracelet at the World Series of Poker this summer by taking down $1,500 No Limit Hold'em/Pot Limit Omaha - 8 Handed (Event #64) for $268,555.
The former big stack of Rifat Gegic has vanished while table neighbor Edgar Suleyman sits on more than 2.5 million. Viktor Langlitz built his massive stack even further after just calling a bet of 160,000 by Domonik Kabas on the river of a board and was good with , Kabas only briefly flashed his cards and dropped below a million.
Rifat Gegic opened with a raise to 14,000 from the button, with partypoker sponsored pro Marcel Luske calling from the big blind. The two players took a flop, with Luske check-calling Gegic's 25,000 chip continuation bet.
Both players checked on the turn, with Luske casually leading out for 50,000 on the river. Gegic quickly called the river, and expresssed his frustration with an audible sigh as Luske showed him the . Gegic turned over his before tossing them forcefully into the community cards.
Luske is definitely off to a better start on his second bullet, while Gegic continues to lose chips at an alarming rate.
On the turn with two players to act, Oliver Knoll checked and faced a bet of 60,000. Knoll check-raised to 160,000 and picked up a call before the river paired the board. Knoll's bet of 110,000 with some 560,000 behind was called and the German rolled over for a straight to scoop the pot.
