Wasek Doubles Up

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Four players invested 77,000 each on a flop of {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} including Artur Wasek in the cutoff and Fabrice Halleux in the big blind. The {10-Hearts} turn was checked to Wasek, who moved all in. The button folded and Halleux asked for a count. Wasek's all in was for 558,000 in total, and Halleux eventually folded.

Just one player in late position remain, and Wasek was called to turn over {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a straight. He faced the {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} of his sole opponent and the {K-Spades} river was a blank to see Wasek double and announce it in Polish to a friend on a nearby table.

Martin Kabrhel Late Regs

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Martin Kabrhel has broken off from the high stakes cash action that’s running at King’s Casino to play the main event with a late registration.

The hippo chip protector is atop his large denomination chips as usual but it may have let his guard down as Kabrhel has slipped a little from the 1,000,000 starting stack.

Langlitz Blitzes Suleyman

Level 7 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Viktor Langlitz extends his chiplead
Viktor Langlitz extends his chiplead

Viktor Langlitz put in a 3-bet pre-flop to 70,000 behind a 25,000 open, with Edgar Suleyman making the call, and the original raiser putting in the extra. They went three ways to a {j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, where Langlitz just shoved the lot in for 2,800,000 effective.

Suleyman leapt out of his seat, putting his hands to his head, and knocking his chair over in the process. He dwelled for a good minute and a half, while Langlitz's huge overbet started to attract the attention of some railbirds before eventually making the call. He turned over {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and was almost an exact coinflip versus Langlitz's {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

"When in doubt, just shove, right?" quipped Jack Sinclair, as onlookers eagerly awaited the runout.

The turn bricked the {k-Spades}, and the river bricked the {9-Clubs}, with Suleyman's entire stack heading towards Langlitz, extending his chiplead and giving him a truly mammoth stack.

Family Pot for Topoly

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Just when the blinds moved up, there was a limp and Boris Kotleba raised to 45,000. Six opponents called and the flop fell {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The action checked to Christoph Bröll, who bet 106,000, and Milan Topoly raised to 230,000 on the button. Bröll was the only caller before an anti-climax {J-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river were checked through.

Topoly showed {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair and that won the pot.

Hossein In the Membrane, Ensan Shoves River and Shows the Bluff

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Hossein Ensan
Hossein Ensan

Hossein Ensan opened the action from under the gun for 25,000 and picked up three callers including Miroslav Lelek before it got to [Removed:464] in the small blind.

Semaska took his time before he raised to 135,000. Ensan gave him a hard stare and peeled off the calling chips from his stack. The next player in line rolled his eyes and folded, Lelek stuck in the calling chips and the player on the button folded.

It was three-ways to the flop of{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}.

A minute ticked by before Semaska continued for 185,000. Another severe glare from Ensan before he called and Lelek left them to it.

“Heads up,” the dealer said andburned and turned the {8-Hearts}.

Some shuffling of chips from Semaska before he checked to Ensan who bet 220,000 and got a call from Semaska.

The river was the {6-Hearts} and a final check from Semaska saw Ensan move all in for 608,000.

Semaska sat for a while before slowly pushing his cards away and Ensan showed him the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} bluff for good measure.

River Banks Runs Dry As Gary Busts With Kings

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Gary Banks
Gary Banks

In the penultimate level of the day Gary Banks was eliminated after he trapped his opponent but ended up getting rivered.

Banks recounted the sad tale as he nursed a beer while his partner Laura Cornelius was on a tear at the King’s Casino blackjack tables.

The player on the button opened for 28,000 and Banks flatted with {k-}{k-} from the small blind and the player in the big blind called too.

The flop was {10-}{j-}{5-} and it was checked to the raiser who continued for 45,000. Banks shoved for 360,000 and his opponent called holding top pair {a-}{j-}.

The turn was a blank but the river was an ace which eliminated Banks.

Langlitz Further Extends His Lead

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Thomas Wetteusl opened from middle position with a min-raise to 32,000, before Viktor Langlitz 3-bet to 127,000 from the cutoff. After both blinds folded, Wetteusl stacked his 480,000 chips into one neat tower, before making eye contact with the dealer and announcing "all-in."

Langlitz thought for a minute, shrugged, and called with {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. He was marginally ahead of Wetteusl's {k-Spades}{q-Spades}, a margin which was hugely increased as the dealer spread an {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop. The {3-Clubs} turn meant Wetteusl was drawing dead, with the {4-Clubs} river completing the runout, inconsequently.

After dropping a few chips since last stacking someone, Langlitz will welcome this pot, which further extends his chip lead.

Simperl Checks Out

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

The chips of Wolfgang Simperl vanished and the Austrian, who had fired two bullets today, headed to the rail. According to Julian Thomas, he got it in with {K-}{Q-} for two pair against the pocket aces of Jan Mach. Unfortunately, that was on the turn when a three had paired the board, and the top two were no longer good for Simperl.

King got into a raising war with table neighbor Leo Schulz. The duo saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} and a check-raise from 135,000 to 350,000 was in front of King. Schulz reraised to 835,000 and King folded.
