Jack Sinclair limped into Tony G's big blind for 50,000, before Tony G anounced "all-in," for his last 1,100,000. Sinclair quickly flicked a green 25,000-value chip in to indicate a call and the cards were on their backs.
Tony G's had Sinclair's in rough shape. The flop did nothing to help Sinclair, and the turn meant Tony G was one card away from a big double up. The on the river caused Sinclair to put his head in his hands apologetically, as he three-outed Tony G to pick up the pot.
After making a deal a little while back, Tony G will still walk away with the lion's share of the prizepool, picking up €300,000 for his 2nd place finish.
Jack Sinclair wins €250,000 and a trophy for the cabinet
Jack Sinclair made it through to Day 2 of the 2017 partypokerLIVE German Poker Championship €25,000 Super High Roller in third position. Late registration closed two levels into the second day with a total of 28 entrants, only three of whom would make the money. Sinclair held the helm steady throughout Day 2, as the field quickly thinned down to our final nine.
At one point on the final, he was bottom of the pile, but never looked at risk. After doubling through Yair Bitoun with the nut flush against a set, Sinclair never looked back, taking big pots off the big names until there were just four left. The last four seemed equally matched for a long time, until Tony G picked off ElkY and Steffen Sontheimer in quick succession and it was down to heads up.
After a few rounds, they both agreed to a deal, where Tony G would take €300,000, while Sinclair would score €240,000. They left €10,000 and the trophy left to play for. Sinclair fought his way to a small chip lead and it was all over when his got there versus Tony G's . After apologetically sprawling over the felt, Sinclair pulled himself together and shook Tony's hand, before lifting the trophy as his rail joined him for the winner's photo.
This result, along with the €30,000 he picked up from his 4th place finish in the High Roller at the start of the festival, will nicely supplement Sinclair's success in the World Series Of Poker Main Event this summer. He's shaping up to have quite the year on the circuit, and is understandably stoked to have beaten such a big name as Tony G in such a prestigious event.
