Day 1b Started
The second flight of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event gets underway shortly at 12 p.m. local time, with a bumper field expected. Each player is looking to get one step closer to securing themselves a slice of an eye-watering $5m guaranteed prizepool, and today is the start of that journey.
Yesterday we saw 262 players join the action, but there is expected to be a whole lot more, with the High Roller down to only eight tables, and more players from all over Europe and the rest of the world arriving at the Sochi Casino & Resort.
Judging from yesterday's action, the target for anyone with chip leader ambitions is the four million chip mark. Only Matt Eardley and Petr Gabyshev achieved that feat yesterday, so we will have to wait and see if anyone follows in their footsteps.
Players can qualify online via the phase satellites on partypoker and there were also live phase satellites, which ultimately send the players into the Live Day 1 here in Sochi. All direct entries receive 1,000,000 in chips and the first level starts with blinds of 1,500/3,000, the button ante format is used. With six players or more, the full big blind is to be played by the player on the button, while tables with five players or fewer only have to pay the small blind.
There are three Day 1s in total, with a turbo heat featuring levels of 20 minutes each gets underway before the start of Day 2. Each Day 1 will play eight levels in total before the field then combines for Day 2 on Monday September 11th 2017 as of 3.30 p.m. local time.

We've already seen Pierre Neuville in a couple of pots already, and the former November Niner shows no signs of stopping that any time soon. Neuville, who has cashes in the Bahamas, Cyprus, Morocco, Belgium, the United States and Spain this year, is looking to add Russia to that list here in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event.
On a turn of he bet 17,000 out of the small blind, and his opponent Valery Ryabov raised to 55,000. Neuville three-bet to 167,000 and Ryabov, who only had around 450,000 behind, elected to fold.
Neuville took down the pot and is up and running in today's Main Event flight.

Aleksei Ivanov has been mostly playing smaller festivals in the King's Casino in Rozvadov, but he made the trip over to Sochi and found local players on his starting table with a strong resume. Viacheslav Goryachev may only be 45th on the all-time money list of Russia but has racked up more than $1 million in cashes. Right next to Goryachev is Sergei Petrushevskii, who finished 4th in the last ever EPT Main Event in Prague back in December 2016 for a payday of € 284,550.

A player opened in middle position to 10,000. Ruben Shahnazaryan called on the button, as did Moritz Dietrich in the small blind and Alexei Gortikov in the big blind.
The flop came [9h5sjhd]. It checked to Shahnazaryan who bet 35,000. Gortikov was the only caller. The turn was the and both players checked.
Gortikov came out firing on the river, betting 110,000. Shahnazaryan called quickly, and Gortikov slid his hand into the muck, muttering under his breath as he did so.
For good measure, Shahnazaryan revealed for a full house, and took down the pot.
