Among those to bust before the dinner were Vyacheslav Goryachev, Konstantin Generalov and Vladimir Geshkenbein.

The latter was in fact the last player to join the rail before everyone headed out of the tournament area and Maxim Babko confirmed what had happened. According to the Canadian, who also holds a Russian passport, there was a raise to 350,000 and Babko three-bet to 825,000. Geshkenbein four-bet to two million in the big blind, forcing out the initial raiser, while Babko immediately pushed for effectively 7.2 million and an almost even stack.

Geshkenbein called it off with pocket eights and Babko had ace-king, spiking not just one but two aces on the flop to eliminate Geshkenbein.

Coates Among Recent Casualties

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

The eliminations keep coming at an electric pace and among those to bust were Sergey Chentcev and David Coates. The latter reported a hand that saw him bust in unfortunate fashion against Armen Khachatryan.

According to Coates, Khachatryan raised to 350,000 and two players called including Coates in the big blind. The Brit check-shoved the {K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop for 1.6 million and Khachatryan called after having bet 450,000.

Coates tabled {A-Spades}{8-Spades} for the nut flush draw and Khachatryan showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for a gutshot. The {A-Hearts} turn and {10-Hearts} river gave Khachatryan a flush and Coates was gone.
