Day 3 has come to an end in the partypoker MILLION North America Main Event in Montreal, Canada. When all was said and done, 37 players bagged chips and will return tomorrow for Day 4 at noon local time. The official chip leader at the conclusion of play was 2010 WSOP Bracelet winner, Scott Montgomery. The chip leader is also known for finishing in fifth place in the 2008 WSOP Main Event ($3,096,768), boasting lifetime earnings totaling $4,539,000. Montgomery finished the day with 83,450,000 chips, followed by Niall Farrell (79,000,000) and Philippe DAuteuil (71,300,000), to round out the top three stacks.
The day started with 173 players and 82 of them took home at least CA$10,000. Tim West was responsible for bursting the bubble about halfway through the day, eliminating Steven Walburton, who was down to less than a single ante. Once the players reached the money, eliminations came quickly and often. Familiar faces to finish in the money included Ryan Riess, Jason Koon, Sam Trickett, Mike McDonald, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Darren Elias, Upeshka De Silva, and Cate Hall.
The remaining players will all be looking to reach the final table and take home the CA$1,000,000 first place prize, as they play down to the final eight players on Day 4. Here is a look at the remaining players, their chip counts, and seating assignments:

A pot with about 7,000,000 in chips in the middle was going down, and Cate Hall was faced with a decision from the big blind.
The board read , and Hall had checked to Sasan Mehrabian who was under gun. Mehrabian moved all in for his last seven million chips, and Hall went into the tank. After several minutes, Mehrabian called the clock. The dealer counted down, and Hall ended up deciding to call with one second to go.
Mehrabian tabled for a set of sixes. Hall mucked, but the dealer quickly flashed her cards, which appeared to be for two pair, queens and nines.
Hall was left with about 3,000,000 and was seen at the payout desk just a few moments after that to pick up her 63rd place payout worth CA$22,500.
Action folded around to Cate Hall on the button, and she raised to 800,000. Sam Trickett was in the big blind and decided to three-bet to 2,400,000. Hall reached into her stack and decided to put in a four bet to 4,400,000, which was an exact min-raise.
Trickett took a look at Hall's remaining chips, which appeared to be about 6,300,000. After a few moments, he began to re-adjust himself in his seat several times, clearly agonizing over his decision. He looked back at his cards, and after about four minutes he opted to fold.
Hall flashed a smile, and took one last look at her cards before tossing them into the muck. Hall has been spinning her stack up, and now sits on a healthy stack of 14 million.
Terrence Chan moved all in for his last 4,000,000 chips and was called by Anthony Zinno.
Zinno tabled while Chan held .
The flop came and Zinno extended his lead, making a pair of aces. Chen paired his jack, but was unable to hit his king since it would give Zinno a straight. The turn was the and the river was the . Neither player held a diamond and Zinno earned the pot and the elimination.
Hailing from Boston, Zinno is no stranger to Canada. He holds a Word Poker Tour title from Niagara Falls, Canada and his other two cashes have been right here in Montreal. He made a deep run in February and looks to snag himself another title on Canadian soil.
Funny enough, Chan hails from British Columbia, Canada but the majority of his cashes come from the United States.
Upeshka De Silva was seen exiting the tournament area, and according to his table, he got his 23,000,000 chip stack in preflop with ace-king against Jordan Saccucci's pocket kings. The board ran out dry and Saccucci secured the double up.
Shortly after, De Silva got his remaining short stack in with king-nine but ran into king-jack and he was eliminated.
At one point, De Silva had 43,000,000 chips and was leading the field.
James Romero was under the gun and raised to 470,000. David Eldridge was to his immediate left and called. Griffin Benger was on the button and three-bet to 4,800,000, leaving himself about 800,000 behind.
Romero went into the tank and thought about it before deciding to call. Eldridge folded. Before the flop came down, Romero piled a stack of chips in the middle in front of him, putting Benger to the test for his remaining chips.
The flop came and the action was on Benger. The tournament clock showed 122 players, just three players away from the money. Benger went into the tank for a few minutes before one more player dropped, putting the tournament just two players from the money. After a few more minutes, the tournament director announced that hand-for-hand play was being implemented. Several minutes later, a player from another table called the clock. Benger had 60 seconds to go before he was forced to make a decision. Just a few seconds in, Benger called.
"Ace king", he said, tabling . Romero tabled , and the dealer put the on the turn, and the on the river. Benger was eliminated in 121st place, just two spots from the money.
Hand-for-hand play will continue, as all remaining players are on the bubble.
partypoker's own Tony Dunst was the first to be eliminated today, starting the day with just 1,195,000 chips. He was seen leaving the tournament area, and the table explained how he got it in good but couldn't hold.
Dunst raised it up with two queens, and Jordan Saccucci decided to defend his big blind with . The flop brought three spades, and the two players got it all in.
The turn paired the board, giving Dunst some more outs along with his lone queen of spades, but the river was a brick, sending Dunst home early.
There will be 173 players returning to the Playground Poker Club on May 8th for Day 3 of the partypoker MILLION North America Main event. The official number of entries closed yesterday with 1168 entrants, surpassing the CA$5,000,000 guaranteed prizepool. At the conclusion of Day 5, the winner will be taking home CA$1,000,000 and the largest title in Canadian live poker history.
Leading the way heading into Day 3 is James Romero, 2016 WPT Five Diamond Main Event Champion for nearly $2 million, with 19,655,000 chips. Close behind him is Upeshka De Silva (18,525,000) and Karim Abdelhamid (17,970,000).
Day 3 will start at 12:00 p.m. local time and continue for eight levels of play. Blind levels will remain at 75-minutes for the duration of the day and will start off at 60,000/120,000 with 10,000 ante. Tables will all be 8-handed now until the final table begins with 9 players.
