Simao Gives One Up

Level 18 : 12,000/24,000, 2,500 ante

Joao Simao raised to 52,000 and both Stefan Schillhabel on the button and Govert Metaal in the big blind made the call. The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, Metaal checked his option, Simao bet 60,000 and got called by Schillhabel.

The {6-Hearts} made Simao slow down. He checked, and Schillhabel took the opportunity to bet 152,000. Simao contemplated for a few seconds before sliding his cards into the muck.

Who Blinks First?

Level 18 : 12,000/24,000, 2,500 ante

The three shortest stacks on the money bubble are all on the outer table while Govert Metaal raised to 52,000 from the hijack on the feature table. Joao Simao three-bet to hefty 160,000 on the button and all opponents including Metaal released their cards into the muck.

Merrilees Doubles on the Bubble

Level 17 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Daniel Merrilees
Daniel Merrilees

Tom Hall won a small pot against Vojtech Ruzicka on the outer table when flopping top pair with {k-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, but the careful play of Ruzicka kept the action limited.

Over on the feature table, Daniel Merrilees first folded on a jack-high turn against the bet of Govert Metaal and then faced the raise to 40,000 by Joao Simao. Merrilees moved all in for 362,000 and Simao called to set up the first showdown on the money bubble.

Daniel Merrilees: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Joao Simao: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} and Merrilees picked up an additional straight draw to cement his lead. Nothing changed on the {4-Hearts} turn either and the {7-Hearts} river blanked to let the Brit double.

Ruzicka Takes Big One from Machon

Level 17 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka and Bartlomiej Machon played a limped pot in the last hand before the break and saw a flop of {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Machon bet 20,000 from the small blind and Ruzicka called in the big blind. The price was 70,000 on the {5-Spades} turn before Machon fired a third time on the {J-Spades} river. Ruzicka eyed up the bet of 175,000 before sending a tower of orange 25,000 chips over the line for a raise to 545,000. Machon wasn't one to waste any of his break time, and quickly let go of his hand.

Jason Wheeler Turns Up the Heat on the Bubble

Level 17 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Hand 1

Joao Simao made it 40,000 to go from the first position and Govert Metaal called from the small blind, just to find Jason Wheeler make it 160,000 from the big blind - enough to take down the pot.

Hand 2

The very next hand Laszlo Bujtas raised to 44,000 from the cutoff, and both Metaal on the button and Wheeler in the small blind paid the price. The three players checked through on the {J-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} flop and the {10-Hearts} turn, before Wheeler bet 65,000 on the {8-Hearts} river. Bujtas called, but mucked when he saw the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} of Wheeler.

Hand 3

Wheeler attempted to keep the streak going as he raised to 40,000 from the button. Daniel Merrilees moved in from the big blind and took down the pot.

Waters Gets Bullied

Level 17 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

On the money bubble and during hand-for-hand play, Oliver Waters twice raised to 50,000 and then folded to the shove of a big stack behind him.

First it was Bartomiej Machon, who shoved out of the big blind and then it was Vojtech Ruzicka one hand later also from the big blind. Waters let go and lost a quarter of his stack.

The same table also features fellow short stacks Jan-Eric Schwippert and Chris Backhouse, who are within a big blind of each other.
