On the Money Bubble

Level 22 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Anthony Spinella opened to 500,000 from under the gun and Matt Berkey flat-called in middle position. Joseph Cassidy was in the small blind and moved all in for 1,530,000. Both Spinella and Berkey called and the flop came {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Both players opted to check to the {k-Diamonds} on the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river. Spinella checked for the third time and then folded and Berkey tossed in a small bet. Berkey turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a pair of kings and that was enough to eliminate Cassidy who held {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

The action went to hand-for-hand play with just 40 players remaining and another three hands were dealt before the players were sent on another 15-minute break. One table will also be moving to the live stream when the action resumes which includes Berkey, Spinella, Leon Tsoukernik, and Chance Kornuth.

This Hand is the Nuts!

Level 22 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

While there haven't been any eliminations in the past 90 minutes, there is no shortage of action and excitement where Leon Tsoukernik is concerned. On a board reading {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, the action was checked to Tsoukernik who bet 1,700,000 on the button. Chance Kornuth check-raised to 4,700,000 and Tsoukernik instantly folded. Kornuth showed {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} as he laughed about his bluff but Tsoukernik responded by showing {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

"We're the only ones playing around here," Kornuth said. "Everyone else is nitting it up."

In the very next hand, Kornuth opened to 450,000 and Tsoukernik was the only one to give him action. The flop came {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and both players checked to the {6-Spades} on the turn. Kornuth fired out a bet of 800,000 and Tsoukernik called to see the {6-Hearts} on the river. Kornuth checked this time and Tsoukernik bet 1,700,000. Kornuth looked him up and Tsoukernik showed {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} again, this time for a full house.

Adams Stays Alive; Petrangelo Stacking Chips

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

Noah Schwartz was the latest casualty bringing the field down to just 41 players. Timothy Adams was also willing to risk all of his chips in a pot against Joao Vieira. After a raise to 355,000 from Vieira, Adams defended from the big blind to see a flop of {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}. Adams checked to Vieira who continued for 475,000. Adams check-raised all in for 1,690,000 but Vieira mucked his cards.

At the table next door, Michael Addamo opened to 325,000 and Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 1,100,000 in position. The action came back to Addamo who made the call. The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Addamo checked to Petrangelo who bet 900,000. Addamo called and the {5-Spades} landed on the turn. Addamo checked again and Petrangelo reached back for a large bet of 4,600,000. Addamo thought for a few seconds but tossed his cards away.

Haxton Doubles; Teska in the Lead

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

The action has slowed down quite a bit compared to the start of the day as everyone is looking to make sure they guarantee themselves some money. The short stacks have tightened right up but the big stacks are trying to take advantage of that. A couple of the big stacks collided in a pot with Chance Kornuth and Roger Teska duking out. Orpen Kisacikoglu opened to 325,000 and Kornuth three-bet to 1,100,000 on the button. Teska called from the big blind and Kisacikoglu folded.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Teska check-called a bet of 800,000 from Kornuth. The {q-Diamonds} landed on the turn and both players checked to the {9-Hearts} on the river. Teska checked again and Kornuth splashed in a bet of 2,750,000. Teska took a moment to think about it but dispatched his cards before his 30 seconds was up.

A few tables over, Cary Katz raised to 400,000 and Isaac Haxton shoved all in for 3,090,000 on his left. Edward Lin was in the big blind and moved all in over the top which forced Katz to quickly fold. Haxton turned over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was in a great position against the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Lin.

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Haxton held on for a crucial double up. There are still currently 42 players remaining, just three off making the money.

On a side note, the last starting flight of the $5,300 Main Event is currently underway. Over the course of the three days thus far, there are a total of 789 entries. With a $10 million guaranteed prizepool, the tournament is hoping to attract at least 2,000 entries. Late registration will remain open for the first four levels on each of the Day 2s so there is still time to make your way to the Bahamas to get in on the action!

First Break of the Day

Level 20 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

The remaining 42 players are about to head on their first 15-minute break of the day. The money bubble is fast approaching and will likely pop in the next level of play. Many players are grinding a short stack but still have a shot at reaching the money. Unfortunately for some like Jonathan Little, Sam Soverel, Dietrich Fast, and Jonathan Jaffe, their hopes fell short as they have recently been eliminated.

Shot Clocks are Implemented

Level 20 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

As the tournament closes in on the money bubble, the shot clocks have been instituted at each table. The players will be given 30 seconds to make an action before they are forced to use a time extension. Each player has six time extensions to use and will be refreshed at the final table or when the next day begins.

There are currently just 43 players remaining mid-way through the second level of the day. Nick Petrangelo just recently eliminated Julien Perouse when he spiked a set of kings on the turn. Petrangelo picked up a relatively large pot to be one of the biggest movers on the day. Roger Teska has also vaulted up the leaderboard with over 20,000,000 chips, nearly doubling what he came into the day with.
