Karlic Wins With Two "Bad Cards"

Level 7 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Gerald Karlic
Gerald Karlic

Petr Targa raised to 55,000 and Gerald Karlic three-bet to 145,000 from two seats over. A short stack in the big blind moved all in for 460,000 and Targa folded, while Karlic started some table chat. He then pointed on both of his cards and said "bad card, bad card." His opponent claimed to have good cards, to which Karlic replied "I believe you, the question is just if it's the same cards or not." One minute passed and Karlic tossed in calling chips, the showdown that followed created quite some smiles all around the table.

Big blind: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Gerald Karlic: {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop seemingly sealed the double for the short stack, but the {4-Spades} turn and the {6-Diamonds} river gave Karlic two pair to score the knockout.

Kolja's Kings Cracked

Level 7 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

A preflop raising war saw Kolja four-bet all in and Jakub Cihar moved all in over the top to isolate successfully.

Kolja: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Jakub Číhař: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The {J-Hearts} appeared right in the window to give Cihar a set and the rest of the board ran out {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} to send Kolja to the rail.

Vaskaboinikau Cut Down

Level 7 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Ondrej Drozd defended his big blind against a raise by Mikalai Vaskaboinikau and a third player came along. Only Drozd check-called a bet of 125,000 on the {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop before both players invested 300,000 each on the {4-Spades} turn. Drozd then led the {10-Spades} river for 600,000 and Vaskaboinikau reluctantly called.

Drozd turned over {10-Clubs}{9-Spades} for rivered two pair and raked in a decent pot, while Vaskaboinikau was cut down to less than half the starting stack.

Lots of Updated Counts

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Both Gerald Karlic and Sergei Petrushevskii remain over two times the starting stack after clashing in a mid-sized pot. On the {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{3-Hearts} river, Petrushevskii checked from under the gun and Karlic bet 295,000 into 440,000 out of the cutoff. Petrushevskii reluctantly folded and the pot was awarded to the Austrian.

In the meanwhile, Anatoly Filatov has been eliminated while fellow partypoker sponsored pros Marcel Luske and Robert Romanello are grinding shorter stacks.

Skorepa Takes from Bergmann

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

On the river of a completed board of {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, Matous Skorepa bet 325,000 and Fredrik Bergmann reluctantly called from one seat over. Skorepa turned over the {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for trips eights and that was enough to rake in the pot. Skorepa has bumped up his stack slightly while Bergmann, who busted on Day 1c, dropped to just under the starting stack.

The Guarantee is Reached

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Thanks to a total of 404 entries in the final flight the total gross guarantee of €5,000,000 has been reached and the clock was stopped for just one minute as the president of partypoker LIVE, John Duthie, took to the microphone to share the news with all players in the poker arena. The registration remains open until the end of the next level and following break.

Lodden Doubles Through O'Dwyer

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

On the three-way flop of {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Steve O'Dwyer bet 135,000 in early position and faced a raise to 325,000 by partypoker sponsored pro Johnny Lodden from one seat over. The big blind reluctantly folded and O'Dwyer moved all in, Lodden called it off for 1.055 million and was the player at risk.

Johnny Lodden: {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Steve O'Dwyer: {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The {J-Diamonds} on the turn immediately locked up the double for the partypoker sponsored pro, making the {2-Spades} river a formality.

Zhang Allows Opponent to Double

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Chi Zhang
Chi Zhang

There was some confusion at the table of Chi Zhang and Markus Durnegger and the floor was called over, while a short stack had been all in for 565,000. The €50,000 Super High Roller winner Chi Zhang had called and was about to go into showdown, but the cards of the opponent were nowhere to be found.

This would automatically result in the elimination of the short stack, but Zhang allowed for the cards to be retrieved from the muck and it was a flip with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} against the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} of the opponent. The board came {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Zhang forfeited around one fifth of the stack.

Small Pots Only

Level 8 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

On the {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop, Andrej Bogdanov checked out of the big blind and called a bet of 80,000 by Hossein Ensan on the button. Both players ended up checking through the {5-Diamonds} turn and {7-Clubs} river, and Bogdanov's {5-Spades}{3-Clubs} for two pair scooped the pot.

Rehman Kassam has been able to boost his stack despite losing a portion of it when betting the {Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades} turn for 255,000 and picking up a call by his table neighbor. Both players checked the {8-Hearts} river and Kassam mucked when being shown {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

Chi Zhang took on Rifat Gegic and check-raised a flop of {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} from 120,000 to 350,000 in a battle hijack versus cutoff. Gegic called and then faced the shove of Zhang on the {K-Clubs} turn. That was enough to force a fold from Gegic, who slipped to around 22 big blinds.
