Leonard Triples Up

Raul Paez raised to 30,000 from mid-position and Mark Smith three-bet to 150,000 from the cutoff. Michael Leonard called in the small blind and so did Paez.

The flop came , Leonard bet 155,000 and Paez called. Smith shoved, so did Leonard with the slightly shorter stack. Paez snap-called too, having both of them covered.

"Oh no!" both Smith and Leonard exclaimed when they saw Paez's cards.

Paez had flopped a set of tens, Smith was looking for a straight, and Leonard needed another king or even more help.

The turn brought them the to give Smith a straight. Leonard got up from his chair but then the on the river fell to give Leonard the higher straight to triple up.

The dealer counted out Leonard's stack and determined Leonard had 473,000 in front of him. After paying Leonard, Smith was left with 17,000. As Smith held the better hand than Paez, Paez not only had to pay Leonard, he also had to pay Smith, leaving himself behind with just over 300,000.
