Grafton Tops Main Event After Day 2; Fifteen Online Players to Join, Dimitrov Starts Day 3 With Overall Lead

Level 18 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Day 2 of the €10,300 Main Event is in the books at the 2019 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe held at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Sam Grafton ended the day with the chip lead of all the players present in Rozvadov. Grafton bagged 26,950,000, but he is not the overall chip leader as Aleks Dimitrov survived the Online Day 1+2 with 27,675,000. The 57 survivors plus the 15 online survivors are all in the money out of the 504 entries that were made in the event.

The tournament will continue on Saturday, August 17, at noon local time with a combined field of 72 players remaining out of the 504 entries that barely met the €5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Day 2 Action

The day started with 380 entries on the clock. Day 1a generated 165 entries and Day 1b was good for 113 entries. The online Day 1+2 had 102. The moment that the 'shuffle up and deal' was announced the clock showed 461 entries as 81 new entries were already made, partly because of the many satellites held at the King's Resort in Rozvadov. Plenty more reentries were made as the players that found their way through to Day 2 by bagging on Day 1a or b were still able to reenter once more in the first two levels of the day in case they busted. The big €5,000,000 guarantee was met when the clock showed 504 entries when registration closed.

The pace of play was incredibly fast at the start of the day and plenty of bustouts happened in the first two levels of the day. Philipp Gruissem, part of the partypoker Pro team, busted early in the day and so did others like David Peters, Ryan Riess, Markus Durnegger, Manig Loeser, and Kevin Rabichow. Other members of team partypoker that didn't make it are Ludovic Geilich, Joao Simao, and online pro Jeff Gross. They all busted fairly early in the day.

Plenty of others did find a bag on Day 2. Jozsef Liszkovics finished in the top region of the counts with 22,075,000 in his bag after winning a huge 20 million chip pot with kings against jacks of the eventual bubble boy, Mauricio Pais. Pais lost the big pot and was left with several big blinds, only to lose them later with queen-jack against ace-three of two opponents. He was the last player that was eliminated before the players were in the money and bagged up.

Markus Grewe (20,450,000), Kenny Hallaert (18,050,000), Thomas Boivin (15,825,000), Charlie Carrel (14,375,000), and Vojtech Ruzicka (14,325,000) all bagged impressive stacks and are looking to make an impact on Day 3 of the tournament.

Bertrand Grospellier is the only partypoker Pro that made it to Day 3 through the live route. The Frenchman bagged 2,955,000 and will start Day 3 near the bottom of the counts. Two other partypoker Pros managed to sneak in Day 3 but without setting a foot in the King's Resort in Rozvadov. Roberto Romanello (9,200,000) and Dzmitry Urbanovich (6,650,000) made Day 3 through the online way. Others that made it through include chip leader Dimitrov, Anton Morgenstern (8,000,000), Romain Lewis (6,050,000), Matas Cimbolas (3,300,000), and Dara O'Kearney (2,975,000).

The tournament will continue with Day 3 and a combined field of 72 out of 504 players in level 18: 125,000/250,000. PokerNews will be there to report on all the action and PokerGO will have a live stream present. The tournament kicks off at noon local time and the live stream will start at 3:15 p.m. local time.

Right before the end of the last level, Abdelhakim Zoufri raised from the cutoff to 175,000 and Christian Willax called from the button. Fast Start for Fast

Dietrich Fast
Dietrich Fast

Dietrich Fast came into Day 2 with one of the top stacks in the room, and he's added more than two million chips to the pile in the first two levels of the day.

Fast's latest triumph came in a blind versus blind pot against Christopher Frank, in which Fast bet 40,000 on a {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop, from the small blind. Frank called from the big blind, and both players checked the {8-Hearts} turn, and Fast bet 40,000 on the {a-Spades} river.

Frank called, but mucked when Fast turned over {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

Mulder Off to a Great Start

Level 9 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Teun Mulder in the €25K Super High Roller
Teun Mulder in the €25K Super High Roller

Teun Mulder and Jenya Gavrilovich are both in the tournament for the maximum of three bullets but Mulder is already close to the number of chips he paid for. Mulder started the hand with well over 2 million already.

The Dutchman raised from the hijack to 70,000 before Gavrilovich, who also entered today with a new stack of 1,000,000 like Mulder, called from the big blind.

The flop was dealt {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Gavrilovich check-called a bet of 55,000 from Mulder. Gavrilovich then took over the betting initiative on the {q-Diamonds} turn but Mulder had none of it. Gavrilovich bet 105,000 and Mulder raised to 250,000 after he asked how much Gavrilovich had behind.

Gavrilovich quickly folded and Mulder is closing in on 3,000,000 chips.
