Giacomo Chips Up Through Vilkov

Level 10 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Day 1a chip leader Mikhail Vilkov's stack took a bit of a hit in a five-way pot at the beginning of Level 10.

Vilkov opened to 75,000 under the gun and got four callers, bringing the {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop. Both blinds checked, Vilkov checked, and Filip Hanusek bet 140,000 from the seat directly to Vilkov's left. Claudio Di Giacomo called from the small blind, and Vilkov also called.

The three remaining players checked through the {a-Diamonds} turn.

Giacomo checked the {9-Hearts} river, and Vilkov bet 250,000. Hanusek bowed out, and Giacomo went all in for his remaning 930,000.

Vilkov made the call, but was clearly frustrated when Giacomo turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for a rivered set. Vilkov's {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} was no good.

Chip Counts

Level 9 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Stiedl Eliminated

Level 9 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Yvonne Stiedl got the remainder of her stack in the middle with {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} against the {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} of Daniel Montagnolli.

The {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop wasn't all that good for Stiedl but the {3-Diamonds} turn brought some outs. The river was the unfortunate {k-Spades} and Stiedl was eliminated from the tournament early on Day 2.

She brought a stack to Day 2 from an earlier starting flight so she does have the opportunity to enter the tournament once more.

Heath Down but Not Out

Level 9 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Ben Heath
Ben Heath

Ben Heath was involved in a pot where he raised and then four-bet all in for effectively 925,000. Heath had about 450,000 behind if all went wrong.

He was up against {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} with his {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. The flop brought {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Heath needed some runner-runner magic to happen. The {q-Diamonds} on the turn gave him loads of outs but the {4-Hearts} river turned out to be useless.

His opponent immediately got moved after the hand and the Englishman has to win his chips back from someone else at the table.
