Burns Won't Fall Into Loeser's Trap

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Manig Loeser raised it up from the cutoff and only Kahle Burns called on the button. The two players saw a flop of {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Loeser continued for 18,000. Burns called and the {10-Spades} paired the board on the turn.

Loeser checked this time and Burns checked it back. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Loeser tapped the table again. Burns instantly checked as well and Loeser turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} with a grin on his face.

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Chris Moneymaker and Thomas Boivin were heads-up in the blinds with the board reading {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. There was already around 175,000 in the middle and the two players decided to check the turn.

The {4-Clubs} on the river put four cards to a straight on the board and Moneymaker checked. Boivin tossed in a bet of 56,000 and Moneymaker snapped him off. Boivin turned over {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for top pair and Moneymaker flew his cards to the muck.

Action Table

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With many faces at Table 34 having had plenty of success throughout their careers not only in the world of poker, but also in the high-roller scenes, there is no wonder the chip stacks seem to be fluctuating so much. Scott Margereson has been taking the hardest hit to his stack this past level, to no one's fault but his own.

A completed board of {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts} was spread across the felt with nearly 250,000 in the pot. The action was on Margereson in early position who thought for a minute before shoving all in. He was met by a snap-call from Josip Simunic on the button who had 175,000 remaining. Margereson turned over {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for just jack-high while Simunic held {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the nut straight.

In the next hand, Norbert Szecsi opened to 18,000 from under the gun and Gal Yifrach three-bet to 50,000 on the button. "Just fold," Yifrach said as Szecsi pondered his decision. Szecsi didn't listen to Yifrach's advice as he made the call.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Szecsi check-called a bet of 50,000 from Yifrach. The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and Szecsi checked again. Yifrach fired out another 105,000 and Szecsi finally laid his hand down.

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}, Mustapha Kanit checked from the big blind. Fahredin Mustafov tossed in a bet of 68,000 into a pot of around 90,000. Kanit called and the {2-Hearts} landed on the river.

Pekarek Finishes Off Mandic, Climbs Over 2 Million

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Goran Mandic was down to just 85,000 chips after losing a massive coin flip to Jeremy Pekarek. Mandic raised to 80,000 in middle position and Pekarek dropped in a call from the small blind. Before the flop even hit the felt, the two players quickly got the last 5,000 chips in the middle.

Jeremy Pekarek: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Goran Mandic: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The flop of {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} gave Mandic some outs and the {10-Hearts} on the turn increased those outs with a flush draw. Unfortunately, the {6-Clubs} bricked everything and Pekarek eliminated Mandic to climb over 2,000,000 chips.

Pekarek Extends Chip Lead

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A player opened and Jeremy Pekarek three-bet to 75,000. A motormouth opponent called and the initial raiser folded.

Pekarek check-called 100,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. "I got the nuts," said his opponent as the turn brought the {8-Clubs}.

Pekarek bet 155,000 and his opponent quickly called.

The river was the {a-Hearts} and Pekarek bet 160,000. His opponent tanked.

"You're not going to do all that tanking and then fold on me?" asked Pekarek.

"Why God why?" said his opponent. "You look so comfortable...you flop a set of nines?"

"What are you slow-rolling me?" asked Pekarek.

Eventually, Kitty Kuo called the clock and his hand was counted down and declared dead.
